A falsis principiis proficisci ab irato.

I only passed because my mother hired a tutor who was the best friend of the Latin teacher. A falsis principiis proficisci "to set forth from false principles" and ab irato Civil Law. Lat. phrase which signifies by a man in anger. It is applied to bequests or gifts, which a man makes adverse to the interest of his heir, in consequence of anger or hatred against him. Thus a devise made under these circumstances is called a testament ab irato. And the suit which the heirs institute to annul this will is called an action ab irato. Evidently, this has something to do with man's anger and doing something based upon false principles. Are you saying I am full of bull shit? I do hold two degrees in advertising! One was conferred honorarily by Northwestern in Chicago for my innovations done advertising and consumer protection. It could be because I am mildly dyslexic, but I literally can not understand any other languages. Two years wasted in Latin, and a semester wasted in French......... I really wanted to learn French, I took it because there was this gay exchange student......... Well talk about the one who got away. I simply could not understand the French language, believe me I tried..... Oh I tried!

He dawdles through repetition of the same unsubstantiated information without support. His inability to understand how a domestic issue is debated only by those from that country, while international issues are open to comment by anyone on the planet. It is a simple concept, and fredv3b appears unable to accept my facts or refute it by offering facts of his own. To me he is a write-off. But, I do not judge a person by one encounter. I know I can crank up after a stressful day.

"If you are not as mad as hell about what is going on here, then you do not understand what is happening on this planet." Or better yet, there is the 1976 scene from the movie Network. "I'M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!" Clip, Network (1976) Network is a 1976 American satirical film released by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer about a fictional television network, Union Broadcasting System (UBS), and its struggle with poor ratings. The film was written by Paddy Chayefsky and directed by Sidney Lumet. It stars Faye Dunaway, William Holden, Peter Finch and Robert Duvall and features Wesley Addy, Ned Beatty, and Beatrice Straight. The film won four Academy Awards, in the categories of Best Actor (Finch), Best Actress (Dunaway), Best Supporting Actress (Straight), and Best Original Screenplay. Degrees are a peice of paper...and most of the people that I know that have degrees ALL lack 1 vital personality trait - COMMON SENSE, and are generally pretty ignorant to others because they like to through their 'degrees' around as a measure of a person and seem to forget that they are as flawed as every other man and woman on the street...degree or no degree. Their short coming is thinking they are better than everyone slse because they have a peice of paper that says so....HINT...people use paper to wipe their arses as well as write degrees on.

Sounds to me like someone was not fortunate to have the opportunity for advanced education. The purpose of college to me is one simple thing. To develop the ability to ask solid questions. A person does not have to go to college to develop the skill of questioning. And, yes there are know-it-alls out there who think they are experts on every subject, and there are people at all social levels that lack simple common sense. All I can say is where would our world be without the Albert Einsteins? Wasn't there a song some years ago about, "Thinking is the best way to travel?"

All I can say is where would our world be without the Albert Einsteins? Wasn't there a song some years ago about, "Thinking is the best way to travel?" I hold degrees (plural) I carry the title of Doctor (no I don't know how to fix your arthritis - I am not that kind of a doctor :tongue. In my 20's I thought it was something special to have papers... like a pedigree dog I guess.:o I came to understand that those papers are pretty much worthless as a measure of a person. They might come in handy if you work for the job you got the degree for. I do not work the job that I got my papers for. I came to realize that what I wanted in my late teens early 20's is not what I want in my mid-40's - not by a long shot. I have to agree with Dfiant to a point, those who hold papers and have letter after their names and honorary titles before their name usually tend to throw their degrees around like a weapon, and demand that their 'worth' as a human being be measured by their papers. There are many who are 'just folk' who have letters after their names but don't mention those letters, do not see them as a measure of who and what they are in the world. Albert Einstein was known as Albert to his contemporaries, even Al. During his life he could have and most likely should have been called Doctor Einstein by all due to his great brain, he earned that PhD and more than earned that title, but he was put off by that title. His take on education? 1934, Einstein writes: "There is too much education altogether, especially in American schools. The only rational way of teaching is to be an example-if one can't help it, a warning example". http://www.funtrivia.com/en/People/Alber...20166.html |
