Still want to go out without a mask?
Posted by: LONDONER - 06-27-2020, 05:04 PM - Forum: COVID-19 - Replies (13)

For those people who don't understand what it means to be on a ventilator but want to take the chance of going out without a mask...

For starters, it's NOT an oxygen mask put over the mouth while the patient is comfortably lying down and reading magazines. Ventilation for Covid-19 is a painful intubation that goes down your throat and stays there until you live or you die.

It is done under anesthesia for 2 to 3 weeks without moving, often upside down, with a tube inserted from the mouth up to the trachea and allows you to breathe to the rhythm of the lung machine. The patient can't talk or eat, or do anything naturally - the machine keeps you alive.

The discomfort and pain they feel from this means medical experts have to administer sedatives and painkillers to ensure tube tolerance for as long as the machine is needed. It's like being in an artificial coma.

After 20 days from this treatment, a young patient loses 40% muscle mass, and gets mouth or vocal cords trauma, as well as possible pulmonary or heart complications.

It is for this reason that old or already weak people can't withstand the treatment and die. Many of us are in this boat ... so stay safe unless you want to take the chance of ending up here. This is NOT the flu.

Add a tube into your stomach, either through your nose or skin for liquid food, a sticky bag around your butt to collect the diarrhea, a foley catheter to collect urine, an IV for fluids and meds, an A-line f to monitor your BP that is completely dependent upon finely calculated med doses, teams of nurses, CRNA’s and MA’s to reposition your limbs every two hours and lying on a mat that circulates ice cold fluid to help bring down your 104 degree temp.

Anyone still want to try all that out? Stay home and wear a mask when you go out! Stay safe and well!

What this article doesn't say, is that the patient can hear everything that is said so if the staff carelessly talks about death, the patient panics. If the sedatives are lessened, the patient panics because he can't breath or talk or, in his case, move. When they begin to lower the pain medications, the patient screams in his head but can't make a sound. When they take out the tubes it's extremely uncomfortable. A trachea may replace the respirator, the patient still can't talk or eat without a tube.

Panic At The Disco star blasts Trump campaign for using his music
Posted by: andy - 06-27-2020, 10:06 AM - Forum: Gay-News - No Replies

Brendon Urie, leader singer for Panic! At The Disco, did not mince words when he tweeted his outrage at the Trump campaign for using one his band’s song during its MAGA rally in Phoenix this week.

“Dear Trump campaign,” Urie, who came out as pansexual in 2018, wrote on Twitter. “F*ck you. You’re not invited. Stop playing my song. No thanks, Brendon Urie, Panic! At The Disco & company.”

He followed that up with another tweet saying that Tump “represents nothing we stand for.”

“The highest hope we have is voting this monster out in November,” he added. “Please do your part.”

The band’s song “High Hopes” was played as Donald Trump Jr. made his entrance on stage at the event in Phoenix, which drew over 3,000 people, all packed shoulder-to-shoulder into the same room, with hardly anyone wearing masks.

Former pro soccer player Thomas Beattie comes out as gay
Posted by: andy - 06-24-2020, 09:39 AM - Forum: Gay-News - Replies (2)

[Image: soc_thomas_beattie_illustration_1296x729.jpg]

Thomas Beattie has come out as gay, becoming the first premier league male soccer star to do so since Justin Fashanu in 1990.

Beattie is only the third male premier league footballer in UK sporting history to come out as gay following Fashanu and Robbie Rogers, a US player who came out after leaving Leeds FC in 2013. He is the second Englishman to come out as queer in the sport.

The former pro began his career with Hull FC’s youth academy at 10 years old. At 19 he moved to the US on a scholarship, and played college soccer before playing at professional level in Scotland, Norway, Canada and Singapore.

“I never thought about coming out whilst playing,” he told The Advocate.

“I literally felt like I had to sacrifice one of the two: who I am, or the sport I loved before I could remember.”

“I was standing still on that front,” he said. “Society [told] me masculinity is linked to sexuality and so being an athlete playing a physical sport felt like a huge contradiction.”

Beattie came out as gay to family and friends three months ago. He then got in touch with some of his old team mates, who he said have “been amazing”.

“They know I’m the same lad I was 10 minutes before telling them so that’s been refreshing.”

Since a serious head injury ended his playing career, Beattie has been living in Singapore working as a model and businessman, in an environment he says has allowed him space to embrace his identity.

He says that by coming out publicly, he hopes to “find contentment”, but also make life easier for others in his shoes.

“I don’t want people in sport, especially, to continue to feel like they have to sacrifice who they are to co-exist in sport,” he said.

“Silence is safe and I could have gone down that road but I have found purpose in the challenge of speaking and being a voice for a community that until very recently petrified me.”

He wants to serve as a role model for queer sports fans, as well as for players, who are often subjected to the same homophobia which dominates the sport.

Of this atmosphere of discrimination, Beattie wants to help create real change.

“This is a systemic and institutional issue, therefore there needs to be a real plan to address this systemic challenge that keeps our athletes living in silence and secretly in the closet.

“I think that gay athletes need to be at the table to help and I’m hoping I can be one of those voices for change in football.”

Missed this from a few weeks ago due to all the COVID stuff in the news!

Barrie Drewitt-Barlow and Scott Hutchinson are "pregnant" with three girls via a surrogate and Barrie says husband Tony, who he still lives with in Florida, is supportive.

A man who became one of the country's first gay dads welcoming twins back in 1999, is now set become a dad again to triplets - with his daughter's ex-boyfriend.

Barrie Drewitt-Barlow married Tony 20 years ago and hit the headlines as one of the first gay couples to have a twins via a surrogate.

But after they split up, Barrie found love again with Scott Hutchinson, who used to date his and Tony's daughter Saffron, 20.

Tony, 55, who was with Barrie for 32 years, says he has no plans to divorce and is still living in a separate wing of their £6million marital home in Florida, USA.

Tony and Barrie's first children together were twins Saffron and Aspen.

Barrie, 50, told The Sun : “I am overjoyed to share the news that Scott and I are pregnant with triplet girls. We are using a surrogate and she’s fallen pregnant at the first attempt.

“Our family has too many boys and too much testosterone! So we used sex selection to even things out.

Barrie and Scott say Saffron has given her blessing for their relationship, adding that as long as they are happy she's "not bothered".

The couple have just flown to the UK for a romantic break to celebrate their news.

Jim Parsons feared talking about his sexuality would cause trouble for TBBT
Posted by: andy - 06-21-2020, 10:50 AM - Forum: Gay-News - Replies (3)

The Big Bang Theory’s Jim Parsons kept quiet about his sexuality out of fear he would 'cause trouble' for the show.  Jim has been married to TV producer Todd Spiewak since 2017 and they were been together for 14 years before that.

The 47yo became a household name when he starred as Sheldon Cooper from 2007 to 2019 but during the early days of the comedy sitcom he was fearful to make his relationship public knowledge.

‘I was 33 when I started doing The Big Bang Theory [in 2007], and things started to become much higher-profile very quickly. So I wasn’t some spring chicken,’ he told Hollywood Reporter.

‘But I hadn’t grown up even close to the era we are in now, as far as what it meant to tell somebody you were gay. I think it’s undeniably different than it was 20 years ago.’

‘I was scared,’ he continued. ‘I wasn’t scared about losing my job. And I wasn’t scared to the point of denying my sexuality. But I was scared enough to make it my mission not to talk about it.

Jim has been married to Todd Spiewak since 2017

‘I was scared enough to be nervous the first time I was even nominated for the Emmy. And I was scared that it might cause trouble, quote unquote, for our big television show.’

His first major role after The Big Bang Theory couldn’t have been a further cry than Sheldon Cooper.  Starring in Ryan Murphy’s scandalous Hollywood, the star played real-life sinister celebrity agent Henry Willson, notorious in showbiz for promising his male clients the world in exchange for sexual favours.

Lil Nas X was afraid to admit being a Nicki Minaj fan!
Posted by: andy - 06-19-2020, 05:49 PM - Forum: Gay-News - No Replies

Lil Nas X has opened up about why he pretended he wasn't behind a Nicki Minaj fan account, explaining he didn't want people to know he was gay.

On Wednesday he started a conversation with Minaj on Twitter, where he asked her to collaborate on a song with him.

"I have this song I want you on and was wondering… " the 21-year-old wrote alongside a meme that said: "I am proposing."

In response to the tweet, a fan of Minaj's, who refer to themselves as Barbs, asked why Lil Nas X had previously denied being a fan of the rappers - and why he had denied that he ran the Twitter account @NasMaraj, which he was linked to last year.

"How come you never claimed her when people asked if you were a barb? We all knew who you were," the fan wrote, appearing to refer to the reports that Lil Nas X was behind the fan account.

In another response to a follower who wrote that "being a Barb doesn't make you gay," the Panini rapper explained that, at the time, he was worried about how he would be perceived by the music industry.

"It don't but people will assume if you had an entire fan page dedicated to Nicki you are gay," Lil Nas X responded. "And the rap/music industry ain't exactly built or accepting of gay men yet."

Previously, Lil Nas X had said the reports that he was behind the fan account were "disappointing".

"It's like a big misunderstanding and it's not one that I even want to give the time, because I'm never putting someone as the face of my career," he told NPR. "So I don't even speak on it. I just don't even acknowledge it, really. I know even more things are being made up and they're gonna be out there. It is disappointing when a big blog will post something without me talking about it but, I mean, it happens."

Wednesday's exchange prompted Minaj to respond to Lil Nas X and congratulate him for embracing his identity.

"It was a bit of a sting when you denied being a barb, but I understand," the Super Bass singer wrote in a tweet to Lil Nas X. "Congratulations on building up your confidence to speak your truth."

Lil Nas X replied: "The generous queen, I love you. And I'm sorry I did that in a time where you were already getting so much bandwagon hate. I felt so bad, hoping you wouldn't see my denial.

"I was just so afraid of people finding out about me and losing everything before I even got a chance."

The singer's admission comes after he announced he was gay on Twitter in June 2019.

Since then, Lil Nas X has spoken publicly about his decision to come out, explaining in January during an interview with Variety that it has since made him and his father closer.

"We have become closer," he told the outlet. "I mean, especially now because I don't have anything to hide. It was a shock for him. It's still the beginning phase. I'm not comfortable bringing a guy around yet."

Israel set to have record number of openly gay MPs
Posted by: andy - 06-19-2020, 04:49 PM - Forum: Gay-News - Replies (1)

[Image: 20190102_Israel-tendr%C3%A1-nuevo-parlam...l-2019.jpg]

Israel is set to have a record number of openly gay MPs after new rules allowing cabinet members to give up their seats came into effect.

Six gay MPs from five parties across the political spectrum will serve in the 120-seat Knesset as a result.

Last year, Israel appointed its first openly gay minister.

The country has the most progressive attitude towards LGBTQ people in the Middle East, despite opposition from some conservative sections of society.

They are protected by anti-discrimination laws, have adoption and same-sex inheritance rights, and have been allowed to serve in the military since 1993.

A member of a centrist faction - Yorai Lahav-Hertzano - will become the sixth openly gay MP when he is sworn in next week.

He replaces one of five MPs from Alternate Prime Minister Benny Gantz's Blue and White party, who submitted their resignations on Wednesday under a new law which allows MPs who are also ministers to give up their seats but stay in government.

Last year, Amir Ohana, from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud party, became Israel's first openly gay member of cabinet when he was appointed acting justice minister. He is currently minister of public security.
