I was about to ask, Who resurrected the dead horse ?
•
I think it's happened a couple times already, actually, due to the method of "read OP, respond without finishing thread".
•
Oh no, now there's a horse involved as well. Is there no depth to which this saga won't go?

When in the hell did this "friendly forum" become the You Must Not Post On "Old" Threads forum???
Why are people criticising people for contributing useful responses simply because the thread is considered "old" by a select few who seem to have taken it upon themselves to claim a superior position in a heirarchy that does not exist?
I have only recently re-joined the forum the last few days and have already been "bashed" for responding to a thread by some self righteous jerk who seems to think he makes the rules.
It is not respectful or welcoming to be uselessly sarcastic, antagonistic or self righteous. Who the hell is anyone to tell anyone else to stop posting?
If people want to post, they may. The original poster does not need protecting from their own threads. If they do not want to read it, they can choose not to. As can you.

Well perhaps rules should be spoken as opposed to assumed. I have read the rules, and there is nothing of it. This is just stupid behaviour. It is a forum and that is the nature of it...posts are there until the admin gets rid of them or the OP asks them to be locked. It is also an "unspoken" rule that once you put something on the internet....there it will stay.
One of my friends asked me not to look at old threads of his, so I did not.
We are all guilty of not checking the date. It is just an internet forum - if we have something to say we may say it, but it is not the most important thing in life and therefore I am not about to sit there and check the date of every post to see if it may still be appropriate in EVERYONE'S eyes. Some really old threads become so expansive that it is still relevant to post NOW, and if you think you have got the gist of a thread and are posting something NEW to it, why should you be bashed by some stereotypical forum troll with a superiority complex who thinks what you have done is wrong? As if anyone would even give a damn what their judgement is.
I understand the need for courtesy but when people are only trying to be informative and helpful there is no need to jump down their throats for it.

I wasn't saying that it's a big deal or that it's justified for someone to bash a person because he resurrected an old thread. But you seemed pretty upset so I just felt like explaining that some people find it annoying because of valid reasons. However, if a new post in an old thread brings something new to the table then, by all means, that's a good thing.

It is off-pissing when you put time into a response to try and be informative, supportive, helpful; to try and give a fresh point of view; offer a new point. It takes time and thought. Forums are supposed to be welcoming of it. And some idiot comes along and jumps on you for it because they consider your contribution pointless. What they are doing is even MORE pointless. "who resurrected this horse? stop it LOOLOL" very clever...
