try the apps on smartphones... gaydar, growlr, grindr, scruff, manhunt..
they might be for hookups but its a good way to put yourself out there!!!!

Dont waste your time on apps like grinder, gaydar, manhunt etc. You are right they are hook up sites and you just annoy people who are on there looking just for sex with "I want a relationship".
The secret is, some of those men on their are perfectly find husband material. But when they are on there, they are probably not in the mood for that. Different mindset.
That being said, I know two guys that have been together more then 10 years who met in a bath house.
the best thing you could do is try hanging out with friends, gay or straight in public places where people interact. It dose not have to be a bar or club, nothing wrong with that though. Try getting involved in helping people. I know some guys that met working at the Gay Community Center. You will be around a lot of gay people without the heavy bar club scene going on. Some friends met on a gay bowling league. Some guys hooked up on a dinner group.
Even if you are not attracted to anyone on your first try, they have friends, and parties and before you know it you will meet people in passing who had nothing to do with that group.
Just get yourself out there.

I am in the same boat. I have found that guys on actual dating sites- like match.com- seem a lot more serious about getting to know you as a person versus just getting disgruntled when you won't immediately send provocative pictures of yourself!
