That's happened to me several times. I always use this Japanese medicine that smells of tobacco and fermented grass. Just smelling it takes the pain away.

On another note, I made it through that party pretty well. It was kind of surreal, there were just people getting drunk on whatever they had. There were bottles everywhere and no food except for the croquembouche which I brought instead of alcohol (it didn't look too out of place thankfully because of how homely it looked) and a few really really good sugar crust lemon curd muffins someone's mother baked. There were people kissing and someone was smoking in the back and apparently people got a bit sick. I've never been to a party like that before... It was nice, people were friendly, it was just kind of a first time experience, I guess. That's my first experience of new zealand drinking culture.
