busy busy busy...day off work and I have done my washing and shopping, cleaned my Tropical Fish Tank and quarantined (Put in total darkness) it because of an Algal Bloom, Cleaned my reef tank and that is just looking brilliant right now. It's 1:30pm so I am going to have lunch and a coffee, then drag in my washing, do another load of bath towels, iron, dust, vacuum, sweep and mop the house and then it will be time for dinner, then bed so I can get up at 5am in the morning and go to work where I can reflect on the quiet weekend I just had...DAMN!

I was doing okay until about an hour ago. My closest friend in the world, since I was 13, finally called me back after weeks of me texting and leaving voice messages. We haven't talked or seen each other in a year. We live on opposite sides of the country now and for whatever reason, neither of us has called the other.

I heard from another source that she had come into town for someone's wedding a few weeks ago and I was flabbergasted that she didn't tell me. So that's when I started calling. She ignored me. Then I got desperate and left a long frantic message on her phone asking her to please explain what the hell is going on.

She finally called me back tonight. She was very curt and tremendously cold. It was as if I were a stranger to her... or dead. I asked why she was upset with me and she wouldn't say. She said "I don't feel any differently. I've just been really busy." When I brought up the message I left she said "yeah... that kind of freaked me out. I just didn't want to deal with you if you were in that kind of a state." That really hurt.

So now I'm just totally confused and hurt and frustrated... which is probably exactly how she wants me to feel. I hurt her feelings somehow, clearly... but I don't know how, and she won't tell me. But I'm done making an effort to find out why. I've just about humiliated myself enough at this point in trying to rekindle our friendship.

Wish I could help, but you are going to have to start wondering after that phone call what is the best thing to do for you.

I suspect trying to rekindle anything wouldn't be beneficial for you right now. A real friend wouldn't play games with you, they would just come out and confront you in a WTF moment.

I don't know, there just seems to be a lot of flags there saying 'time to move on', you have done what you can and the ball is in her court now.

That's about my thinking too. I've done what I can. If she cares about our friendship then it's her turn to do something about it. I can only call so much before I start feeling like a creep... and that happened like five or six messages ago.

Yeah, a same thing happened to me recently as well. A close friend
of mine had contacted me a few weeks back to meet up at a Fair to
catch up over a few beers. Well, the day of the Fair happened and I
showed up and waited a few hours, then I sent her a text and she told
me she ended up going to work. I mean, that's great, but she's the one
that made plans to meet up and then she just never bothered giving me
a heads up that she's not gonna show up.

I try to keep my 'doors' open for friends and give them chances, but I
am beginning to not let some 'friends' be a priority when all you are to
them is an option.
