hey, matty, I hate to disagree with ya but it doesnt sound like your doc was very good to you from your description. Maybe you mean that he had an excellent bed-side manner
It most certainly does sound like you have a "frozen shoulder" with the loss of motion and the pain you describe.
My doc did the same when I first made my complaint known. He gave me some painkillers. Told me to come back. At least your doc checked for range of motion... When I came back I had lost so much range of motion the doc was really shocked. That was my first MRI. Wild thing that magnet, nice rythme
My tendon had torn. After months of intensive physical therapy I had not recovered much motion and still had the pain. I wont detail the surgery suggested, thought the doc was joking IT IS THAT BARBARIC!
I refused the operation (it ends with you wearing an morphine pump for a week or more... after reading that range often does return but after many many months. I did regain about 85 - 90% of my range.
I am not a doctor and dont get paid well enough to try and suggest medical advice. I do believe you said that you are attending a gym. Maybe they have someone who can suggest some stretches. They can be as simple enough as rolling a ball on a wall or slowly moving your fingers up the wall to gently stretch. I also was given a rope/pulley thing to really push the stretch and hold it... BUT AGAIN YOU MUST BE SHOWN THE PROPER TECHNIQUE - it is always possible to make things worse. OK?
good luck and hope the recovery is super fast and painless.
