I thought I was impotent earlier on, but I kept at it and, stubborn as she is, she eventually yielded. I was in quite a nasty-feeling place earlier, but masturbation gave me relief. It is difficult for me, but I just have to develop a technique.

Another comedian friend of mine went to host a sort of "battle of the comics" last night. I didn't go, but I probably should've, because Dave Chappelle showed up, and asked if he could co-host. She said yes. Apparently it went really well.

Oh, it's silly. He posted on Facebook that nobody who didn't have "a solid 20 minutes" (of comedy to perform) was unqualified to say anything negative about other comedians. I responded "I can't play guitar - by that logic, Nickelback must be musical geniuses." He didn't take too kindly to that. He said "It was obviously meant for other comedians - way to push yourself into that group."

It all ended happy. I made a joke at my own expense (to his way of thinking - it was actually true) and he laughed at it, so apparently we're all OK again.

For a comedian, it sounds like he takes himself and his craft and things in general rather seriously.

In a sense, yes. He tours and all that, so he's obviously more serious about it than most. But he always struck me as more laconic and smart-assy than this exchange suggested. Apparently, the entire kerfuffle involved two separate incidents in the "Denver comedy scene" (who knew there was such a thing?). One involved how much one could joke about Baltimore as it was still unfolding, and another was about making rape jokes about specific women as they sat there (and, as it ends up, were victims of rape). I wasn't involved in either discussion, so I can't say anything more about them, but that's what got things going.
