How are you today?
princealbertofb Wrote:Goodness that was a close one then , Barry. We're lucky you're still alive, aren't we?

Yes....... I have to get checked out next week to ensure that i am still OK. As atropine can take 1 or 2 weeks to leave your system...... I have to check in every day to my line manager so he knows i am still alive now that i am on my days off!! lol

What doesn't kill me will only make me stronger!! Hey and at least i wont do it again!! LOL

I'm feeling particularly "meh..." today. Is that even an emotion? If not, it is certainly an accurate onomatopoetic representation of how I feel.

Basically, I'm running a community conference. The guy that is supposed to be getting the sponsors in hasn't. As far as I can see, not a single one. The catering bill alone is going to be over £2K. He also missed the submission deadline for putting his talk in for consideration (he was at the committee meeting to decide the deadline!). The sessions are (and have always been) decided by public vote, yet I got an email asking how the sessions were chosen.

I'm sure he's just overworked and hasn't got the time. The conference organisation is volunrary and unpaid. But, I'd really rather he said that he didn't have the time than volunteer for tasks then not do them.

Sorry - Just had to vent a little.

In other news, my mobile phone contract expires today so I'm off to look at new phones. (My existing phone requires a little coaxing when it needs charged up - The connector doesn't work so well these days)

Sorry to hear your bad news, Colin. What a pain when someone fails to step up to the mark. Can you salvage what's left? It sounds like a lot of work, specially with a catering bill of £2k.

What do you think you'll do about your phone? I upgraded mine a few weeks ago after much deliberation. I am not keen on the decision I made

We should have enough, but it will be tight. I've already had to send an email to the speakers at the point they were selected to say that funds are tight this year and not to expect us to be able to pay expenses. In previous years only a couple ever actually did anyway, even ones coming up from London.

I don't know. I'd like to try for a phone running the Adroid OS because I can run Spotify at the same time as other stuff. On my current iPhone I can't do that. If I want to do anything else I need to exit Spotify (stopping my music) to check texts, email, etc.

I'll likely look at getting an iPhone 3GS, but I'd like to see how that's going to work with the iPad when it is available (Can you tell I'm a gadget geek?)

On the other hand, I write software for the Microsoft platform, so I'd really like to wait until the Windows Mobile Series 7 is available (but that's not going to be until much later this year) so I can write software for it. I can't do that with the iPhone (because the development platform only works on Macs, and I don't have one)

At the moment I'm just starting my research - I'm still happy with my existing iPhone, more or less.

I'm tired and overwhelmed.

I want to go to bed, but there is still much to do.

I've had a mostly good day Confusedmile:

Nice to run a steel pan workshop this morning; specially in a place I'd never worked in before. Haven't had access to pans for ages. Had a long phone call with one of my sons. He's loving his new job and he was able to take his wife and my forty-seven-and-a-half hour-old grandson home from hospital today.

Less happily, PA too busy to talk at the moment. One of those weeks when he has to get the reports done :frown:
