@Chase The alarm company only fucked up your life because you did not enter the code in time. Even if the family leaves notes, if you are responsible for dealing with it you should have the code available.

Now, as for the tinnitus, try one of those nature sounds postings on YouTube. I like this one: I play it at a very low level and it seems to soothe.

I think that you should chain the little brat children to the radiators and set the alarm off, first informing the police and apartment folks that you will be "testing" and that no response is necessary.

I am not responsible for losing my hearing to an alarm. I hate burglars, but it'd be downright barbaric to torture them with such a dangerously loud noise. That noise was so loud it's a weapon.

I felt that way when I went to see The Who in concert.

I do sincerely hope your hearing improves.

Do you work for an alarm company?

OMG that's terrible about needing the injections but glad you caught it on time and are on the mend Matty!

Their (adult) kids got rid of the note, and I didn't know it off the top of my head. So while I was spending extra time looking for it in my notes, it was enough time to trigger the alarm. It was the loudest alarm possible. I'm hearing a full blast tinnitus now. It is truly unbearable. I can't even drown it out with a fan now. I don't know how I can possible go on with it now. There is nothing I can do to escape it. It's been hours and I still hear it, my ears are still in pain.

Sorry to hear about the tinnitus Chase... my mum had it and said it could get bad especially at nights. Some white noise or ambient sounds (like sea, rain etc.) are meant to really help with sleeping. Even though I don't suffer from it... sometimes I put on a rain sounds video before going to bed (8-12 hour YT one with no ads) Hope it gets better for you soon.

I'm not doing too bad... our washing machine broke down two weeks ago and we just got a new one yesterday so catching up with the huge piles of dirty laundry!

I didn't know you had a problem with your eye Matty, I'm sorry to hear this, but I'm glad they were able to do something to help you.

Was it a work-related injury that damaged your eye?

Whoa @"matty7" that's kind of crazy. Didn't know stress or BP could cause eye trouble to that extent. Glad they were able to do something.

Weather Update:

- Senate passed the bill for that 10% withdrawal from pension funds. The final votes in both houses were 2/3 and over 3/4 so government had to admit defeat. I mean, it died on 2019.10.18 for all intents and purposes, but this is a new level of dead.

*Ya está muertoooo* LOL

-Government finally agreed to cash transfers to people who reduced or lost their source of income and a no interest loan to be repaid in 4 years (it does consider inflation though). Let us se how that goes.

-I see cases rising again in most quadrants in my city. Not at all surprised about that, but man...are we going to have a 4-month lockdown? Santiago certainly did.

-A Senator with a strong affinity to the Pinochet dictatorship (as one of his designated mayors in the 80s) and also a staunch defender of Paul Schäfer (i.e. a Nazi that escaped to Chile and ran a closed German immigrant community used as a torture and detention center by Pinochet and also a notorious child abuser) just became the new Interior Minister. Yup, that happened.

-Cue a renewed conflict with mapuche communities in the Araucanía region a day after he travelled there. It's not like the Chilean State has ever had any semblance of a good relationship with the country's indigenous communities, but this is something else. Can't wait what he will have police do once protests inevitably start again. I predict more dead mapuche and more dead protesters.

-So, I still can't go to the Spanish Consulate to get my documents, since it's lockdown mode here and there. Maybe it will be lifted soon over the decreasing cases, but as I noted before, here they are picking up agaaaaaaaain so I don't know. It doesn't matter anyway, tomorrow or a month or two months I'm out of here.

-I finally tapped into that Mango Absolut. I....regret....nothing. I'm consuming what is left right now porque alcohólico. Might also dip into some wine, the night is still young.

Take care people, at all times.
