Electricity problem

HI im new here and hope someone can help.
I have moved into a new home and thought the gas and electricity metres were on constant but turns out they are pre-payment token metres.
I have got the key and card but my wage does not arrive untill friday and i have just used up the emergency on electric meter and will most prob run out of gas too with the snow here.
I tried payday loans but they will not accept lol. i must have a bad credit score.
Anyway i was wondering if anyone knows of a way to get 40 today for my metres?
Or is there a way to get the metres to work still?
I am going to loose my freezer food if i dont get something on it soon. And if the gas does go i will bein big trouble as its freezing outside.
I am an only child and parents have passed away so i dont have family to help me out and i have no friends here as i only recently moved in.
Can anyone suggest a way to get 40 pound to keep me going until friday.
But needs to be today or my food defrosts

Put the freezer food in a cooler outside? Use snow to keep that cold?

Reduce the temperature of your thermostat to 60F - 15.55C or even 50F 10C - put on layers of clothing.

I know that the Episcopal Church (Which is the American Version of the Anglican Church) has various charity services. So to the Catholic Church.

I have turned the heating off for now and i guess i could put the food in the snow lol. Just cooking it is a problem as its electric cooker. And i have 5 days before i get paid. Bit of a pickle i have got myself into.
Theres no charity to get money for electricity. Can only find food charities in the area. Im screwed

Hi, I am sorry to hear about your trouble. We don't have that system here.
What about asking your neighbors? I know they don't know you well yet, but maybe they would be willing to help with storing the food in their freezer?
Can you turn the heating off for most of the day and spend some time in a shopping center perhaps or at the office? (To stay warm and to save gas and electricity)

They are legally obliged to make sure you have gas and electricity, it is a basic human right written in law.

Where does money come into that relationship written in the law?

You don't have money but you have the right? I am a bit lost. I can't see the necessity to have this written as a law. In my eyes it's a matter of business - offer and demand...

I tried calling the supplier and because im over 18 and have no dependant children and i do not claim benefits for a disability i do not qualify. Im at the end of my tether now. I dont know what to do. My neighbour didnt answer the door so thats out the question too. I might have to go to the red light district at this rate :-(

I thought of that. And as i have just recently moved i dont really have anything worth any money. Also its a fair trip to their shop and the only thing they might buy is my t.v. But cant get it there. Dont want to risk a taxi in case they dont buy it. Genuinley out of ideas now. Think im going to crack up

Prepayment meters have emergency credit built into them usually 5 or 6 pound.

You will have money on Friday and they will be able to turn everything on on Friday? So you need to survive four days?
Do you still have gas and electricity now?
Do you live in an apartment or a house? I am asking because apartment won't get cold as quickly as a house as far as my experience goes.
I suppose you have some money set aside for food till your payday?
So, you have four evenings and nights to survive, because during the day you will be at work?
