Quickie is a good brand. I have an electric one.. because I don't have the physical strength to get around well enough in a manual one..
They're expensive as hell though.

I'm a different level of disabled: I have a severe mood disorder that makes it very difficult to make emotional connections proper with anyone or anything or even any situation.
Example1: My own mother was getting tested for ovarian cancer last year. When she told the family, I knew cognitively I should be worried, but I couldn't emotionally make the connection...She's cancer free but I felt guilty because I felt nothing when my dad was freaking out and even my autistic brother was worried... On the other side of the spectrum that I experience, the disorder also manifests as severe anxiety, so I will have emotional breakdowns over the tiniest of things. Example2: I was shopping at the grocery store next to my mother's doctor's office while my mother got some quick annual bloodwork done for her diabetes. I was supposed to take 30 minutes. Well, it ran a little long so I'm waiting for my mom to pop back over to the store to pay for the groceries I got for the really nice dinner I was supposed to make that day. I tried calling my mom but she didn't answer. Turns out she accidentally put her cell on silent. So I called her 37 times, throwing myself into a massive panic attack and forcing myself to hide in the corner of the store, pretending to look through magazines until she finally showed up and paid for everything. It makes it near impossible to form any solid relationships, even though a major part of me just wants the basics like a spouse that understands and still loves me and children, but I know I may lack the ability to feel any emotional connections to be able to have these basic things. I know it's not the same as being in a wheelchair, but I do somewhat comprehend the difficulty any disability can make when trying to form any kind of relationship. |
