I'm all for showing the fundies no mercy, but I don't like how too many people want to "get them all and let God figure them out." And I bet if Muslims had as many military bases and control over us as we do them that our Christians would be the one going ballistic over it, and thus the bloodthirsty religion, and as plenty of Muslims point out Nazi Germany was a devout Christian nation.

There are plenty of progressives among Islamic crowds, and others who just want to be left alone to live their lives, but in going after the cancer so clumsily and lumping them all together we create enemies faster than we can kill them and do more to help the fundamentalist regimes than harm them when many of the moderate and even progressive Muslims hate the terrorists and their own fundie governments almost as much as they hate us for our drones and imperialism that treat them all as equally guilty. Instead of supporting natural allies we push them into the enemy camp, because the primary purpose of our governments isn't to stop terrorism but to exploit them all equally even more than governments do their own citizens (and were even worse when the Cold War added to the intrigues, though with the end of that Russia isn't enough to scare many terrorist sects to accepting CIA support anymore either) and thus make a lot of fundies the "lesser evil" for people living there.

Maybe instead of religion being the main problem here it's government...

Look, these two things that were said are what I've been arguing against. You both claim to dislike fundamentalists only and have no problems with regular muslims, yet this is exactly what you said. That is why I've been so annoyed by all this. I'm getting sort of tired of arguing about it though.

There is no arguement, you are misinterpretting everything. Extremists/fundamentalists are a different breed (RACE) of people, they don't only exist in the Muslim community, they also exist in the Christian community (GOD HATES FAGS)

Fundamentalists/extremists are ones that misrepresent the religion that they have chosen to lay their faith, they corrupt their religion so to speak and it is unfortunate that the majority are unfairly tarnished with the same brush as the extremist minority.

I work with a Muslim and I certainly would NOT paint him with the same brush that those 'MUSLIMS' that murder in the name of Allah because I refuse to believe than any religion at it's original source has any violence, it is us human's that have misinterpretted religions and used it as a weapon for one's own purposes.

And cardiganwearer, since you seem to LOVE personal attacks and adding absolutely nothing to a discussion, I can only assume that you require a helmet and regular visits to a 'special' needs hospital?

i think when dfiant said that origanally, he used "race" as a noun, collective, and probably didnt think a lot about the implacations. When someone immediatley picked up on it. I felt at that moment to say what i have just repeated, followed by... so yes.. in the context dfiant meant "islam is a race of extremists" which in hindsight i wouldnt have said, simply because YES its offensive, and by my own very admission i didnt mean it as the words implied- do you see?

We have been tolerant and let a race of extremists that are intolerant take over our countries and demand respect or be killed. We have bowed to their every whim in a fear of offending but we are fully prepared to be offended and feel defenseless.
