Hello sean, what the others posted is pretty much it when it comes to what rights gay people want. We would like the same basic rights as everyone else, and don't think of us as a gay community but an individual that happens to be attracted to the same sex. You probably know a more gay people than you realise, I don't know how the gay people you know are but there's some of us out there that like sports and cars and working those hard labour jobs. I'm actually one of the oximorons on the site who is also Christian, there's a few others here. I guess if you want you cuold search in the intrest section of the site and the news section, there's a lot of post about rights there. My favorite explenation of what it's like to be gay is from the movie Big Daddy, we're still the same people, we just watch a deferent type of porn Smile

Something else I wanted to add, when talking about our community, gayspeak is its own community made up of slgbt, the "s" stands for straight. So if you were to become an active poster then you would become part of our community.

nice you go along with basic human respect thingy but reading into this statement i get the feel you dont do the "homosexual rights" thing. Gays in society are old and we have been here all along, just a tiny small minority that had to hide it self till now.

How about the gays dont go along with the "heterosexual rights" thing, how would that work for you?

Educated... Hmm.

Well what can I tell you that no one else can?

There are gay affirming churches, there are different takes on those Scriptures. If you take the blinders off that the church threw on you and read the Story of Johnathon and David it make surprise you to think that that was pretty Gay. Or Ruth and Naomi...

Guys proclaiming they love each other more than they love women? Women declaring that their love for each other was like the love of Adam to Eve....? Seems familiar to me, but then I know a lot of GLBT and being one I know how I feel about my partner, and how I want to share my life with them - just like a straight guy wants to share is life with his wife.

Its not about homosexual rights, it is about human rights. Why deny 2% of the population from their happiness? Why continually focus on 2% of the population who only want to marry who they love and be assured that they can work at a job without being fired for who they love?

Now I'm uncertain what happened in Canada, but I have a sneaky suspicion that as soon as Canada passed Gay Marriage into law the LGBT stopped protesting and pretty much became 'unseen' and 'unheard' for the most part.

Give them what they want and they will go away...

Oh, this is gonna be good...

I have things to do, so I'll be brief.

Gay marriage: Just my opinion as a practicing Catholic, if the Church forbids it, I'm not pleased, but I don't run the Church. I left the Church a long time ago and now I'm back. I feel good being back. I feel like my love for my partner is a gift from God. But I'll never marry in the Catholic Church, at least not in this lifetime.

Still there is a matter of legal rights, personal and property. I feel like the government is (or SHOULD BE) an agency of the people it represents. Am I not represented by my government? Am I being discriminated against? It's my opinion my partner and I should have all the same legal rights--and therefore responsibilities--as any couple recognized by the state (medical, death, benefits, inheritance, whatever...)...otherwise we're truly Second Class.

That's how it stands today, in most American states anyway.

So, Church doctrine, if I don't like it, I go find another church or start my own.
But state law, I expect more (and better) rights and representation.

That's my brief feeling about all the noise on the news lately.

You can ask me anything you want.

Whether I answer back is entirely up to me. But I love to talk, so I doubt I would ignore you.

Depeche Mode had the right idea....

"People are people, so why should it be, you and I should get along so awfully..."

I truly are amazed you had the audacity to post as you did it is nearly as though you are here to perhaps win converts to your religious view.
So did you have a homosexual experience which caused you to doubt the stance of the your religious body?
Are you looking to pick a fight or are you looking for other evangelical Christians amongst the LGBT folks who frequent this forum?
I do not know much about these group of folks because I just recently found this group also but I do know there are amongst LGBT many who profess to be Christians. I am one of those and for many years considered myself a right wing evangelical Christian.
In 2011 I went to rehab, got sober and began a more spiritual journey. In the rooms of AA I saw and heard all kinds of people talk about their freedom and their own spiritual journey. I just found I could not continue to to the church thing or be involved with those folks anymore. My journey and the promises continue and I am 100 times happier being content as a gay man. I have another man in my life who is my world and we both still believe in the new testament church. And you know what Yeshua said about homosexuality? Absolutely nothing!

Please try to remember you are addressing fellow LGBT, Kiid, and utilize mutual respect. Insults will get this discussion nowhere.
