I'm gay, so why do I find the LGBT community more offensive than supportive

Did you happen to notice that I didn't respond to it Wink

That would be because I don't agree with you but I am not going to make an example of what you think to prove that my opinion matters more than yours, because quiet frankly it DOES NOT.

my opinion is my opinion, your opinion is your opinion...there are no facts being debated, there is just peoples opinions.

Have a nice day Wink

Well Krupt, take a look around it's a fucking discussion forum. If you have no substantive responses that can be vocalized it's probably indicative of the weak foundation and superficiality of your precious opinions.

Cheers

Krupt Wrote:I think it is equally as offensive when homophobes are homophobic because they 'can't stand fucking queers prancing around scantily clad throwing their junk all over the place while even kids are watching.'

So we are all judged by a majority based on the outrageous and at times darn right distastful and disgusting behaviour of deviants and perverts?

And us poofters living the quiet life plodding along with 100% acceptance because we are 'just being ourselves' shouldn't get upset?

If you want the majority to accept us, then we have to show them that we are, at the root of everything, no different to them...flambouyancy and overtly displays of sexualised behaviour in public places is never by any stretch of anyone imagination going to achieve acceptance and it rightly shouldn't. Sex belongs behind closed doors regardless of your sexuality.

Have your pride parades, but keep the fucking in your bedroom, and be proud to be a respectable human being before you are proud to be queer.

Although this demands flamboyant people to change their personalities or at least hide them in public which is awful. Like I said earlier, giving in to demands of normalization would be an even sadder thing than unintentionally creating more homophobia due to one's behaviour. I still don't believe in Pride parades for other reasons I mentioned earlier but I think some of the things OrphanPip said were spot on.

What I see is a need for normalization. Homosexuality isn't 'normal' and won't be until people can accept it and we'll some people will never see it as normal. (in history it was normal and then Christianity went and fucked that up)

But also sometimes homos don't do them selves justice. There are a lot of drug abusing glitter bitching fags out there that are just too hard to get along with for almost any one. They are called FLAMERS. Fags who think they are allowed to flaunt it to the point of people[e hating them and think that the hate they receive is cos they are gay. No it's cos they are flamers u.u

I'm not sure that's true though. Christianity isn't the sole reason why societies grow homophobic. I think ancient Assyria (more than a thousand years BC) condemned homosexuality, or at least it was possible to "accuse" other people of homosexual behaviour publically... oh well. In any case, Christianity can't be used as the sole scapegoat here. Similar views on same-sex relations have existed earlier than that.

Well I blame christianity for modern view on homophobia. Also just religion in general. Especially ones with male god. God if there be such a thing would be a motherly creature and actually care about people.

A lot of homophobia is religious but far from all of it. I come for a village where most people have 2 things in common: being atheists and being homophobes.

Christianity may be a scapegoat, but it tends to be the main reason for being against things like gay rights, gay marriage, etc.

I was actually on a news article earlier.. it was actually on Lady Gaga and her rendition of The Star Spangled Banner (which she changed a line, at a gay pride event, to "the land of the free, and the home of the gays). Apparently this enraged all of the overzealous patriotic people (nothing wrong with being patriotic mind you).

Anyway, I got into several heated discussions and it seemed the main reason was "Jesus said it's wrong!!11".. which then of course devolved into personal insults about my appearance (people do that when they have to real argument or anything to back it with).

My point though.. really the only argument I see is, that it's unholy, against the bible, etc. So while there may be other reasons homosexuality is viewed by some as "weird" or "wrong", I still think Christianity is the major reason. Maybe not the sole reason.. but it's obviously a huge reason..
