When you realize you really don't have friends.

I'm pretty sure I have like one friend whom I see outside of school. ._.
I don't know how that happened. Oop.

The less you have friends, better friends they are.
Well, sure it's not strictly exact but I often notice that people who have lots of friends are deeply alone faced to their problems.

Thus I keep my friends to a very low minimum, and I am always waiting for them to show their true nature and when it happens its off with their head (figuratively speaking... unfortunately only figuratively).

At least you know the difference between friend and acquaintance - few people of your generation understand that difference.

BTW I have 3 friends in life - they have long demonstrated their 'value' and they earned the title friend....

..yeah, it always gets pretty ugly when people's true colors show.
it's a mixture of disappointment and lots of anger.

Yeah, I s'ppose it's better to be alone than to feel betrayed or
just used again.

Who needs friends anyways, right..?

I learned to no depend on people but when someone earns the right to be called friend then I will trust them but if they break that trust it is very hard if not impossible to get back.

You only need but a few good friends.

I can say I have about 10 of them,
ranging from best to alright,
on the friend "ladder",
under that umbrella of "life-long".

It doesn't mean I talk to them all too often,
but I don't have to,
oddly enough.

Some of them I speak with on the phone regularly,
few I hang out with once in a blue moon,
and with other's, a distant text here and there.

Heck,
some I don't communicate with,
but once,
on a year's average,
before having that random all-nighter phone,
or in-person meetup conversation
to catch up on each other's lives,
and reconnect,
starting where we left off.

That's just how things have always been for me.

Like with you,
as time passed,
they all just moved far away,
and if not that,
became way too busy
and just haven't the time for hanging out.

Real friends love and care for you,
genuinely,
unconditionally,
and haven't any exterior hidden motives
to do you wrong.

Regardless of the dynamic,
I would say I'm very blessed.

I don't take the time I should
to reflect on,
and really appreciate it.

I need to start doing so,
especially when getting in my head,
and getting depressed
about "having no friends"..

It not the dynamic that counts, it's the substance.
