Please help. a friend of mine can't find work.
#1
I know there isn't a lot anyone can do, but I want to do what I can to help her.
She has office administration and has applied to literally over 150 jobs and been turned down by every single one of them. She's in her 30s and I think that might play a factor, but not saying anything. She currently works at a call centre and hates it with a flaming passion!
We both go to the same church and I've been praying for her to be able to find work, but this has been going on for over a year.

She has applied for jobs out of town, in town, for the government and still nothing.

One woman we know works at a lawyer's office, where my friend works for her if she's sick. That's the perfect place for her to work. But, in order for that to happen, someone needs to leave. They said she'd be their first call but nothing has happened yet.

Please help!

One big problem is her age, she is in that "babymaking age" that creates a huge obstacle for her. No matter people say that wont happen/it's illegal/etc, the fact is that happens all the time and everywhere...

Unless you are in a rural, backwards thinking "50's mentality" area....her age has nothing to do with it.

I am an Administrative specialist. Exactly what are her skills, and at what levels?
I can give a few suggestions if I know more about what she can do, has done, and wants to do.

Believe me, her age has LOTS to do with it, no matter where you are.

I hate to disagree with you, but unless you are applying at an all male company......age does not have a lot to do with it.....not around these parts anyway.

Although, it does remind me of this......

Hmm, try to guess how long I was without a job at that age... And I was not the only one.

What do you mean "at that age"???
You cant be more than 25!!!!!

And it must be a sad state of affairs, if your country still holds women as "less" than men when it comes to intelligence and ability.

How did she apply those jobs to begin with? Via job recruitment websites?

One of the methods to at least get a job interview is through sending job application directly to the company's email address. Call the company and ask for the name of the Human Resource manager

Ask her to revise her resume and cover letter. I recommend her to restructure her resume's layout. Google and look for samples; Best resume etc.

Best wishes to her.
