I liked 21 year olds...when I was 21.
I have pretty much maintained a 10 year +/- attraction range my whole life.....
I can't even think of men under 40 now sexually...they are all "kids" in my mind.
I DEFINITELY have zero attraction to guys under 30...OMG. I do feel like protecting them or watching out for them in general...that's about it.
I have a definite idea about why this is the case for me but I will have to come back as I have an appointment now.

Here are my observations. I personally prefer youngsters. The reason being their open-mindedness which arises from their yearning to know about life and explore all possibilities. At least that is what I expect. On the other hand, many people shut their mind and world by about 25-30 years age as they get married and go into a cocoon. There are exceptions, but in my part of the world most men age quickly, at least mentally.

Maybe it is found in both homosexual "community" and society as a whole. But I find it quite sad that a community instead of celebrating diversity does - generally speaking - "prioritise" the young, skinny, good looking. It always makes me laugh how gay liberation was born partly to celebrate that we're all different but yet the "community" as such is far from one big happy family.

I think the main reason why guys 25-30 feel "old" when they first come out at that age is because they spent the better half of their youth surrounded by sex and relationships, but they never got to have that themselves when they were younger. At least, that's how I felt when I came out at 19, which I know is really young but still, it feels like I'm always behind by like 5 years. So, I can sympathize with these men who say they feel "old", they're just upset at the fact that they have a lot of catching up to do.

Every stereotype has a nugget of truth in the center.
For instance, there are some serious flamers out there - and they are so obvious while the rest of us slide through life that most people think that to be gay one needs to be an obvious flame.
I don't know what the gay world is.... I have two terms, gay scene and gay community.
The Scene is the bars and clubs which do hold a lot of shallow folk and there is a strong leaning toward youth. The community is everything else, like community centers, gay owned stores, and all of those political offices seeking to give all LGBT rights.
I have no idea then what the gay world would be with my lables... Bars/Clubs? The rest of it?
Yes a lot of LGBT have the myths and not the realities to draw from.
Its not like as soon as we were born the doctor said 'Its a Gay' and the parents proceeds to introduce us to the LGBT Community, scene, traditions and stuff.... No, most LGBT are born and assumed straight and thus begins their training to full fill The Plan, getting married, having kids.. blah blah blah.
Most households either don't discuss the realities from stereotypes of the gay part of society, or if they do its to promote those myths. Its not until the kid comes out of the closet that suddenly it becomes important to teach the kid the truth about LGBT - but by that time its too late.
I am happy to report that with a majority of people suddenly being supportive of LGBT (at least in America) there has been a slight change in the wind when it comes to separating truth from stereotypes. I go to non-LBGT forums and note that more and more straight people are calling BS when a basher comes on and starts spewing some stereotype.
So. This means that some people are actually researching and learning and trying to set the record straight.
Myths are hard to kill... So when will the world see the end of stereotypes? I don't even think God knows.

Two things
#1. I am really depressed now to find out gay life is over at age 20. I only had five days of it before I turned 20 and had to deal with a boring life and horrible sex.
#2. HumTanger, for a young guy you're about the best adjusted and least "teenish" I've met. I bet you turn out just fine when you're an old man my age.... and by the way... contrary to gay myth, life really seems to get better in all respects every year past 20.
