Covid-19 Test?

My other half works for a private medical company and has to have the test done every week!

I've not had the test yet myself but not had the need to as not experienced any symptoms...

We're always really careful with wearing sanitiser gel and masks in busy places... washing our hands when we get back home!

As far as RT-qPCR testing goes, policy here remains only for symptomatic people and close contacts of confirmed cases, adding health workers obviously. As far as the antibody test goes, it's not exactly widely available for the general population yet. Not that it matters much. Testing inmmune response to a transitory virus doesn't exactly tell you anything other than you were exposed to it at some point and may be still (but by that time it should be infecting your pneumocytes so you'd probably develop a noticeable respiratory condition). It does help quite a bit as cumulative data for epidemiologic modelling and maybe it would help to mass-locate high prevalence areas to correlate with PCR and then make an informed decision on more surgical lockdowns, assuming the tracing and isolation of all close contacts of confirmed cases is in high gear. Also maybe people with confirmed immune response could donate a bit of blood for research in terms of colecting PMBCs from which SARS-CoV-2 responsive clones could be isolated, grown and used to mass produce antibodies for therapy and better yet, to figure out the best of these at blocking virus entry to host cells.

I got a call from my mom yesterday, she was not feeling too well, and she went for a test, and came back positive.

Because I was there visiting, I went this morning to be tested with my dad and brother. Dad came back negative, my brother and I are positive.

oh sh.t! Way to celebrate Xmas with the family. If you guys get sick at all, I hope it will be mild symptoms only. Lock away all guns and hunting knives before going into quarantine together...

Oh gosh, I hope, like Bernd says, that everyone's symptoms will be mild at the very worst. Hope your Mum feels better soon Chuck.

I am sorry to hear that Chuck. I hope your Mom has a mild case as the majority are mild and even asymptomatic. Hopefully you and your brother will also be asymptomatic or mild. My husband was positive when I had it and he had no symptoms or problems.
