what you would expect for a big budged movie, The story line supposedly is after a real life event

Clint Eastwood directed this adaptation of John Berendt's non-fiction best-seller about a Savannah, Georgia, murder case. When this film was released, Berendt's book had been on best-seller lists for four years. As the film begins, New York journalist John Kelso (John Cusack), alter ego of author Berendt, arrives in Savannah to do a brief Town and Country article on the annual Christmas party given by sophisticated, urbane antique dealer Jim Williams (Kevin Spacey), who restored many mansions in Savannah, including the famed Mercer House where he lives. After the party, Williams kills his rude, violent lover Billy Hanson (Jude Law), explaining it as a necessary act of self-defense. Kelso decides to stay in Savannah to cover the trial, encountering a variety of colorful locals, eccentric and otherwise, including black transvestite nightclub performer Lady Chablis (appearing as herself), financially challenged bon vivant Joe Odom (Paul Hipp), vocalist Mandy Nichols (Alison Eastwood), voodoo priestess Minerva (Irma P. Hall), and Williams's deceptively powerful defense attorney Sonny Seiler (Australian actor Jack Thompson with a very convincing Southern accent). Kelso develops a romantic interest in Mandy while tracking the events that led up to the killing. ~

The Artist, 2011. Amazing piece of work. Unbelievably good acting, considering the fact that very little editing was done to make it seem like it was done on monochrome manual film cameras.

My sisters keeper, it was really sad, I had heard it was a bit upsetting but wow.

The last two movies I watched were Bless The Child and Blood & Chocolate. They were both interesting movies, though the book to Blood & Chocolate is a lot better.

ugh....Michael Crawford should whack Butler upside the head with a iron pole for his abyssal performance. At least Emmy Rossum was a halfway decent singer.

Dude... They just released a "Phantom of the Opera: 25th Anniversary" which is a taping of the actual on-stage show at Royal Albert Hall with Ramin Karimloo as the Phantom, Hadley Fraser as Raoul and Sierra Boggess as Christine, all of whom KILL IT. It's the perfect antidote to the film version and Gerard Butler (who's a good actor, but not a singer. How do cast a non-singer as the Phantom? WHY?!?!?!?)

From what I understand they tried to imitate the original staging as best they could. It's really spectacular. I wish whenever someone wanted to film a movie musical they would just record the stage version. I think it's very difficult to translate the suspension of disbelief you have to have about people bursting out in song if they're not on a stage.

i watched The Pact - very creepy, then same day The Devil Inside - even creepier, then Machine Gun Preacher staring Gerard Butler, little far fetched by his sudden turn to god as he was plain crazy hells angels type...some upseeting senes when hes in Sudan involving child soldiers though, overall a well made film
