La Grande Bellezza (The Great Beauty) the Italian movie that won the Oscar few days ago.
Nice, Italian but so good for the common American(U.S.) taste.

Just watched Dallas Buyers Club.
A gritty, no hold barred account of a straight man living with HIV in Dallas in the mid 1980's.
A tough subject matter to put on the big screen at the best of times.
Mathew McConaughey's Oscar for Best Actor for the portrayal of Ron Woodroof from a loner out to line his own pockets to fighting the cause for more widely available unapproved AIDS treatment is almost completely overshadowed by Jaed Leto's performance as the transexual ultimately befriended by Woodroof.
For anyone who has witnessed the ravages of AIDS first hand Leto's performance is simply inspiring.
Not a movie for everyone due to the subject matter, but highly recommended non the less.

I watch movies on planes because it's difficult not to. The last long flight I was on, 18 hours, Dallas to Brisbane, movies were almost a salvation in that I could have it on without sound and in my headphones listening to something else and was not bothered for fear of interuping me. I have no need to see a film that is based on CGI unless, of course, I know that Tom Cruise was killed in the making of it or that Tokyo really was offed by Mothra. Movies are supposed to be entertainment not a twenty dollar waste of time. As to the name of the films on QANTAS.....have no idea, they just existed as flickering images in my cubicle.
