“Hidden Figures†about the black female mathematicians who worked on the NASA programme in the 60s. It’s not a great picture but it’s very well made and acted and fortunately doesn’t sentimentalise the subject, more or less tells a straightforward story. I have to say that I was squirming uncomfortably and with a certain shame to see how blacks were treated in those days but it is an interesting story about a subject of which I knew nothing and it deserves to be told. I’m glad that the characters depicted were eventually recognised for their work. Overall it is a feel good movie greatly helped by the fact that it is impossible not to like the three central characters. I have read that as far as box office figures are concerned, “Hidden Figures†has had a greater income at the box office than “La La Landâ€Â.
