I'm sorry to hear you find the site a bit restrictive in terms of its format - I tend to view the threads as being just free-for-all discussions, where anybody is able to lob in their thoughts, and anybody and everybody is able to comment on them ... :biggrin:.

Although this forum is restricting in format, I find it to be a lot more easy-going than other forums I've frequented on--which is always a plus.

And what if this child grew up to hate you? or blame you for its bullying?
Everyone can get bullied but when the cause is two men who adopted it could go either way. Living with the guilt that your the cause of your childs suffering can't be an easy thing.
(depending on where you live in the world of course but im not too confident with my home town accepting a gay father with open arms.)

I take your point, but personally I still think it would be better to give a child that might otherwise have a considerably worse quality of life the opportunity to be brought into a stable and loving home, regardless of the fine print.

Life isn't perfect by any means, but it is what we make of it, and so if all the cynics can find fault with is that the child has two same-sex parents and isn't that so objectionable, that's a fight I'd happily take on ...

There are tonnes of considerably worse alternatives when all's said and done, and just maybe those two guys or girls might be able to raise a child that appreciates that just because things are different, doesn't make them any less special mile:.

The worst thing about being gay... Hmm.

My first answer would definitely have been related to having my own children, since my views have changed on the subject rather recently, and I become broodier by the day.

In a nutshell, I couldn't care less about society. If I feel my lifestyle, and relationship, could support a child, then I would have one - by whatever means.

There are pro's and con's to each and every method, but to me, it all boils down to one simple concept.

Regardless of who we kiss, cuddle and sleep with, a gay relationship can offer everything a hetero one can. And at the end of the day, that's what matters.

I can love them, provide for them, and offer a stable family life, something which, in the case of adoption, is the single necessary criteria.

Yes, it will be tough, and undoubtedly, the kid will face prejudice about something which has little do with him or her. But I hope, and believe, that with the support of their two Dad's, the kid will fight off the discrimination and be a stronger person for it, eventually.

And that's it. That'd just be us. A little, self-contained family unit vs A Big Ignorant World.

Bring it on I say.

Oops. I got so carried away with my rant on having kids, I forgot the point I was ORIGINALLY going to make! Hell!

No... Nowadays, to me, the worst thing about being gay, is all the goddamn QUESTIONS.

Maybe it IS just me, but everytime someone learns of my sexuality, they're away - firing questions at me like I've just been arrested.

Largely, I enjoy it it. Or rather USED to enjoy it. It was nice that people were interested, and, in its way, it was educating them about certain gay things.

But lately... No. I feel as weird and different as I would if someone shouted "Fuck off you Homo" at me in the street. I feel like a Freak Show.

"Are you top or bottom?"
"How many positions do YOU lot have?"
"Is it always messy?"
And the ever-present...

"Does it hurt?"

To which I have been known to reply:

"I'll put my large, warm foot up YOURS and you can find out, can't you, you irritating little fuckwit!?!"

I am a good-natured person, on the whole. I swear.

Also, 'tis definitely more prominent in women. Weirdos!

I mean the "dream" - wife, kids, dogs, well paid job,. big country house, Sports car, family 4x4/people carrier, christmas with the whole family!
