Occupy Wall St---I warned you, didn't I?

What does the BBC or Pravda have to say - they tend to be less involved and report more accurately. Hell the Onion is more accurate in news reporting that MSNBS and Faux

Hold it a min....... Yesterday Knewt Gingrich attacked MSNBC as "Obama's reelection committee." I watch because I enjoy the passion of Ed Schultz, the intellectual advice of Chris Mathews, and the assertiveness of Rachael Madow. Yes, all basically liberal Dems, but angry Dems calling out their party for their continually failed liberalism, and outright lies in the 2008 campaign.

Ed is like the passionate uncle who worked at the GM plant
as the union steward, and tells you why you should be pissed!

There is nothing the Democratic Party wants more than than to recruit the 99ers-OWS, but they/we don't want the "do-nothing-Democratic-Party" or "weak negotiator, Obama." Obama had control of the U. S. government for two years, not one hearing, nor did one Wall Street big shot go to jail. The MSNBC pundits are attacking the president, and deservedly so.

When a Democratic president is willing to play poker with Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid it is time to clean house. As a DNC member, (soon to be former), I answered their last request for money with these words, "I do not donate to the mediocre or Republicans."

My Obama 2012 sticker is off the car, and I ordered a 99ers sticker off the web today. You might want to consider ordering one from Cafe Express. Based upon a phone call placed to Washington last Friday by a credible source, there is some interesting, but unverifiable information.

1). Democratic liberal Partisans want the DNC to crawl back to what used to be their liberal base, or be thrown under the bus come November, 2012.

2). The word on the Washington GLBT grapevine is big labor is impatient with Obama.

3). GLBT is officially no comment at this time, but quietly our folks are individually contributing time and money to the 99ers in a big way.

These 99ers are starting to fly, and some believe GLBT must be part of the grass-roots movement for long-term reasons of our GLBT agenda. While I find this a little overly dramatic, I do not discount this kind of political talk these days. GLBT has more than a foothold in the 99ers. Who was it that said, "First one in, gets the best deal?" GLBT is represented, but more people are needed.

Sorry, I don't buy into propaganda machines.

My truck has no stickers, I didn't fly flags after 9-11, never had a 'voting for this dumb-ass over this jackass'. It doesn't even have a gay flag. My bumpers are pristine.

I neither stand with nor do I stand against the 99'ers.

Fox and MSNBC and CNN and The Weather Channel and all of these other 'news outlets' do NOT report news. They tell you the news then tell you how you should feel about it. You are too young to recall the days when news reporters sat there blandly ticking off the events of the day without telling you how they feel about it or them waving banners and selling products thus striving to get you to watch them over the competition.

News today is fluff and entertainment, designed to capture a certain crowd and peddle their wares to that crowd.

Ed, Rachel, Nancy Grace, Beck and all of these others are competing to be 'The Voice of America' relying heavily on shock and awe and entertaining the audience and telling their demographic what they think their demographic wants to hear.

Digg deeper, Fukishema disaster is still playing out, BP disaster is still playing out. The Large Media centers barely touched on the Christchurch Quake of N.Z. This stories are buried under today's fluff, which happens to be the OWS and the propaganda machine hard at work to discredit the movers and focus out attention on circuses and entertainments other than real politics.

Ed, Rachael, Nancy, Glenn and the rest of the talking heads could report that the sky was blue and I would be hard pressed to believe it.

A rare glimpse of your passion! Glad to see you drop your intellect for a sec to share some passion.

I love Ed Schultz because of his passion. Did you know they took him off for a week because he called Ann Coulter a whore in an interview on another network?

On a serious note, allow me to take you back to some ideas I picked up in mass media in college that still seem to be true. ABC-TV is wholly owned by Republican Disney Corporation, and is the largest media company on the planet -bigger than Murdoch's Fox. NBC-TV is owned by General Electric one of the nation's largest defense contractors. The content of television news can directly relate to their bottom line. They also own Universal Studios. However, their news division does have more latitude than ABC. After years of fighting, and corporate battles CBS news is owned by CBS, which is now owned by CBS Corporation. Just based on that limited information whose news do you think you would be inclined to watch?

From Murdoch to Viacom every media outlet has an axe to grind for their bottom line, except for one, CBS.

One really pathetic thing to consider about the money grubbers in mass media. They don't care what fills the space between the commercials as long as they get the largest audience age 18-49 possible. The reason? In the United States, 18-49 has the most discretionary income, and that is what advertisers are after. Not all media people are this jaded, but I rarely see an argument made against this premise that won.

Hardly, read through the first 3 pages and it just sounded very much like a pissing contest between 2 people who like using bigger and bigerer words to out do each other.

Evidently, you should have read the last three pages. I think you will be able to get your head around this link to CBS News. It is about AMERICA'S NEW POOR. The people who financially supported the food bank in Atlanta, are now food recipients. We need to focus on the "meat and potatoes" of the 99ers, not the media spin. Any of us are only a few meals away from hunger. http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-3445_162-573...bsCarousel

Since there is barely 4 pages, what difference does it make if I read the first or last 3 pages?????Rolleyes

And frankly couldn't care less about americas poor, every country has them, most of the deveoped nations poor are poor due to their own doing and dependance on welfare.

Either way, all I see is a pissing contest about being a 1% like it is supposed to be something elitist and respectable. FINANCIAL WEALTH does not earn anyone any more respect than the 99% have, hence pissing contest.

.

That is not altogether true.

Working in homeless shelters and soup lines and various other areas dealing with 'the poor' you discover that there is mental/emotional illness that leads to people being too sick to actually fend for themselves but not being sick enough to collect a check. Then there are those who are sick enough to collect a check, but have no real options because they have fallen through The cracks.

Here in America, a good many of the poor are put there through circumstances beyond their control. One of the insidious causes is health care gone wild where they start off having a job with no health insurance, get sick and start collecting more and more debt. Next they lean another mortgage on the house (if they are lucky to be house owners and not merely renters). Their illness progresses, they lose their job and the house of cards collapses around them.

It takes between 20-24 months for a person to get Federal Disability. Most are automatically denied the first and second time and have to take it all the way to a judge. This is why US TV commercials have several SS Disability lawyers advertising.

During that two year period, if your boss was generous enough to fire you and pay for unemployment you got it for 6 months (now its 99 months). After that six months you might get a state disability check for 6 months. You are still left with one year hanging around accruing more debt.

I have seen women of domestic violence with children standing in a soup line because the particular 'government' protection service was over full kicking the woman and her children to a Church financed shelter. I have seen veterans who lost legs in a war sitting in their wheel chair, their veterans benefits not being enough to keep them in a studio apartment. Broken homes, domestic violence, means of support dying, or going to prison, or just walking away and not looking back.

These are the least likely to get hired in society, they do not have a stable address, more often no phone number thus a prospective employer won't be able to get in contact with them.

This doesn't even touch drunks and addicts which should actually be included in the list of the mentally ill.

Then there is a very large population of working poor. They barely make ends meet, working long hours at 2 jobs that pay crap. Working the food bank I have seen elderly who were supposed to be taken care of by the system, that system failed. I have gone to homes to minister to the elderly and their choices are to either buy medication or eat, or have a heated home.

I under stand that the UK takes care of its poor, elderly, disabled and sick and veterans a little better than the USA. So maybe it is pure laziness at work there.

Here in America if you skin is not white, you are under-qualified for the job, do not have enough education, lack experience, Over qualified. Many reasons, of course no one will say to their face - your skin is just a little too dark for this company.

America pays lip service to equality, in practice.... not so much.
