World AIDS Day!
#11
Its one of those "OMG WE CANT MENTION" subjects. Like if someone has aids the instant reply is "OMG thats so bad" -Walks off.

"Cant believe they didnt tell me we shared this blah blah"

It is bad but its been shown as the evil and a subject which shouldnt be discussed..

I don't think it is just AIDS ... people don't like to talk about things they are scared of

just like CANCER

people tend to whisper it

naturally AIDS is even worse because they associate deviant behavoir with it .. even though .. and I don't have facts to support it .. but I would guess that at this point the majority of people with AIDS are not gay nor even have anything to do with gays

Its one of those things though, its been associated for years with gays, so why will people just change?

Talking about AIDS mind...

Can't say I've much direct experience of it.

ALTHOUGH me mam's cousin's son (i think) was gay, and he dissappeared from his little canadian town for a few years and came back with AIDS. Sad
The mam was a nurse, so she nursed him till his death a month or two later. By about halfway through the first month, all their friends stopped talking to the parents, and avoided the family.

So in the end they lost their son and had to move town.

I don't know how long ago that was, but still. Minging.

(Just thought I'd add that to the thread.)

See that sucks. Parents lose a child, and in a way the town looks down on them. Its rather sick.

it is sick!

knew a few people that died from AIDS

and yes they were gay

and once in a while someone will say (and I'm talking about straights)
.. remember him? ...

and we'll talk about what kind of person they were

but the mentality in remembering is .. well .. they were gay

it's not right

But then people define guys by being gay.

Im not so sure. Now people can be defined as "camp" like straight guys have a "camp" style.. So I still think people do catagorize guys as gays quite a bit, and if someone said "oh do you remember so and so", "OH YES THE GAY ONE" Its still there!
