Posted by: VirgoMasquerade - 10-01-2016, 04:44 PM - Forum: Movies - Replies (40)

Hi ghostly buddies! Since my fav time of year is upon us why not count down some of the best Halloween movies out there till the big night? Each day this month ill be counting down to some of the greats Halloween/horror movies out there and even some other things if i don't feel lazy that day.... So without further ado

Night 1

Killer Klowns From Outer Space!

Bio
Killer Klowns from Outer Space is a 1988 American science fiction horror comedy film directed by The Chiodo Brothers and starring Grant Cramer and Suzanne Snyder. It is the only Chiodo Brothers' directed and written film—they have worked in many other projects in other roles, such as producing and visual effects. The filming took place in the city of Watsonville and at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.[2] The film is about a bizarre clan of evil aliens from an unknown region, but who all resemble goofy circus clowns. They arrive on Earth in a small town with the sole intention to capture, kill and then harvest the human inhabitants to use as sustenance.

Trailer

My Thoughts

This is a silly ass movie yet still has somewhat of a creep factor. What i really like about the movie has to be the soundtrack and costuming. The scariest part IMO would have to be the part with human puppet.... Puppets are creepy and so are clowns err Klowns! I'd love to hear what you guys think about this movie, Also be on the look out for Killer Klowns In Outer Space 2 coming out soon

  Sister-In-Law from HELL
Posted by: Guest - 08-28-2016, 04:52 PM - Forum: Everyday-Stories - Replies (24)

Yes, this is a vent.

We took vacation for 3 weeks and have been visiting family. We spent half the time with my family, and are now staying with my husband's parents.

In the past, my mother-in-law and I had some issues, but we now get along beautifully and the visit has been really nice...except for one thing--my sister-in-law.

She has told me to "Shut up and stop talking" at LEAST once a day everyday we have been here (and some days she has said it to me 3-5 times).

The first time it happened, I was so taken back by the unexpected rudeness, that I didn't say anything, but the second day we were here she did it again, and I very politely told her that she doesn't have the right to tell me when I can speak or not...yet it persists.

This morning, my husband and I were drinking coffee and reading the news when she arrived. I was reading aloud an article about a local murder to my husband when she interrupted me to say that the article was inaccurate. She went on to say that she knew the officer who arrested the suspect in the case, and gave a name of the officer she knew. Well, the name she gave wasn't the name of the arresting officer in the article, and I said "Maybe you are thinking of a different murder, because the article gives a different name for the arresting officer." She proceeded to throw her hand in my face, and started saying "Stop Talking! Stop Talking!" Over and over again....

I swear to god, I had to leave the room for fear that I was going to slap the shit out of the bitch....

Ok. Vent over. Had to get that off my chest. It is DEFINATELY time to end this "vacation"...

  Florence Foster Jenkins
Posted by: LONDONER - 04-12-2016, 07:11 PM - Forum: Movies - Replies (3)

A name probably unknown to the majority of GS contributors but a new film about her starring Meryl Streep is being premiered tonight. She was a talented pianist but in her later life insisted that she was a singer. Much more information can be found here:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Florence_Foster_Jenkins

She was an heiress and funded her own concerts. It's all too easy to make her a figure of fun (as the film will probably do - )
but there was tragedy in her life and a possibly reason for her self dilusion: syphillis.

A sample of her "singing" can be heard here:
