...of hearing people you KNOW are racist insist they aren't...and their actions have NOTHING to do with being racist?

The last in a long ass line of these incidents comes from Ferguson Missouri...and their VERY OPENLY RACIST Police Department.....

It is completely disgusting....

...and the same racist people wonder exactly why black people have a problem with the police....

If you are gay...pay attention. No matter how much acceptance and equality under the law we ever get...you will still have to deal with this as well.

  gay characters in non-LGBT films
Posted by: meridannight - 02-17-2015, 08:57 PM - Forum: Movies - Replies (32)

do you know any?

i'm watching Miller's Crossing again today. from the first time i saw that film Gabriel Byrne's character made my gaydar tick, so to say. especially in the end of the picture, the way he looks after Leo as the latter is walking away....something about that look makes me think of two guys all hot and messed up for each other. it goes right through you like that. one of the best and most memorable moments in film history for me. and strangely, a few of my straight (male) acquaintances have commented on that very same scene and said that that was a lover's look there. that no straight guy could look at another man like that. they also agree Byrne's character was gay.

i'd like to know what gay guys think of this. have you seen Miller's Crossing and what's your opinion on Byrne's character?

and feel free to bring up any other gay characters, or characters you suspect might be gay, or just want an opinion on, from non-LGBT films.

  Come Undone
Posted by: Meerkat54 - 01-07-2015, 04:14 PM - Forum: Movies - Replies (6)

So I watched this movie that somebody had posted to YouTube a while ago, and for the first gay teen-based, sort of 'coming-of-age' movie that I've seen, it was actually really enjoyable. It's a French film called Presque Rien, or Come Undone in English. It's a Romance/Drama that has a basic story to it but it's very much in-depth and engaging.
Mathieu, 18, spends the summer at his mother's summer house, in Brittany. On the beach, he meets Cédric, a boy his age. A love-story begins between the two boys.

It actually ends up becoming a really cute film to watch, particularly because of the relationship between the two boys. The characters and their personalities/situations were portrayed brilliantly and the actors really hit the nail. Although the storyline was relatively basic you could really feel the emotion and meaning behind each character and what happened to them. It did get a bit confusing at times though. Often I found myself wondering whether it was Cédric or Mathieu who had the camera, and I often got their names mixed up what with who was calling who. It was in French (with English subtitles), however, so that could partly be to blame lol.

Overall though it was really enjoyable and I'd definitely recommend that you check it out.

A good 9/10 from me. Smile

  THE HOBBIT (no spoilers!)
Posted by: MisterLove - 12-18-2014, 11:49 PM - Forum: Movies - Replies (3)

I saw Peter Jackson's film yesterday and loved it.

The Battle of the Five Armies is fast paced, thrilling, full of surprises and, unlike most literary adaptations, the movie is actually more complex and detailed than the original book.

I particularly enjoyed the final sequence, so simple and yet so meaningful and brilliant, one of the greatest ellipsis in the history of movies.

So, what's next? The Silmarillion?

Does anyone on the forum have autism?
In honesty, I don't resort to doom and gloom intentionally, I also have chronic depression. It is a challenge to interact and have connections. Isolation is something very easy to fall into. I have very little experience interacting casually, and having a casual social life is something foreign to me, even though I crave it probably like everyone else.

Does anyone relate? If not anything else it might bring attention to issues which deserve discussion. Being the focus of attention isn't for everyone.

  Favorite Battle Scene

For me it has to be the duel from Kill Bill vol I.
The scenery, the snow, it's so beautifully shot from every possible angle. And the music, you'd normally think it'd be out of place but it fits so damn well. The build up to this scene was insane. I had goosebumps all over. Lucy Liu was devastatingly mesmerizing.
