  Don't ask, don't tell
Posted by: marshlander - 04-01-2009, 07:02 PM - Forum: Gay-News - Replies (6)

The notorious US military policy of "don't ask, don't tell" is one of those items that President Obama has said will be up for review. Two retired generals, proving that there's plenty of life in the old guard, have said that to have gay and lesbian people serving openly in the military would "undermine recruitment and retention of staff, impact on leadership, dissuade parents from allowing their sons and daughters to sign up and ultimately be a danger to national security".

A spokesman for the president's office says that such a decision is low down on the list of priorities at the moment.

  Sweden approves gay marriage
Posted by: marshlander - 04-01-2009, 06:54 PM - Forum: Gay-News - Replies (20)

Don't know how many have heard the news that the Swedish parliament has voted 7-6 parties in favour of marriage rights for all. The one dissenting party is, of course, the Christian Democrats.

The new legislation comes into effect on 1st May and couples already in registered partnerships (similar to UK civil partnerships) will be offered the opportunity of staying as they are or of applying to the authorities to have their status amended.

  Race To Witch Mountain

After enjoying the relative emptiness and quiet of the "Watchmen" theatre,we found ourselves crowded by trumpeting bloodthirsty tweens and their maniac mothers. The children in this movie however were a joy, great performers and the Rock?Well put him in a tight tee and I could very well give him an Oscar. This one is an adaptation of a much older (and more eerie) movie and I believe the diff is the extraterrestial element in this one.In fact, the extraterrestial part plays a very significant role in the storyline.Dwayne Johnson plays a taxi driver who tasks himself with job of protecting siblings from a really dangerous threat and in doing so save humanity, how original.Like I said, the plot might not been original and Dakota Fanning already has the t-shirt for the "adolescent in alien invasion" experience but theres something diff about this one,it must be the performances from the kids.Don't go to see this if you're on a serious date or dating Anderson Cooper for that matter but if you were feeling just like I was today (silly, quirky & a bit hungry),please do!

  Watchmen!

This is the 1st movie I've seen this year at the cinema and we couldn't have chosen a better movie...a tad long but worth it.Its a an adaptation of the "graphic novel" (comic book!) of the same name which is apparently has a huge following. The movie is unlike any other superhero movie that I've seen, its violent, very violent but the visual style numbs that to a certain extent.Like Batman, many of the superheroes have no real powers except Dr Manhattan and they are very much real characters, except Dr Manhattan again.Dr M is NAKED throughout the whole movie which kinda shocked me,does the fact that its CGI make it okay to shove a big dick in the audience's faces?Like I said,I loved this movie, its not your usual superhero movie storyline wise and the ending is awesome as well!

Ashton Kutcher speaks out about gay slurs
Posted by: andy - 03-19-2009, 10:06 AM - Forum: Gay-News - Replies (10)

[img2=left]http://www.gayspeak.com/forum/images/news/ashtonkutcher.jpg[/img2]Ashton Kutcher has said using words such as 'fag' is as bad as calling people 'niggers'.

The actor, who used Twitter to get his point across, was responding to another user who called him 'gay' for hurting his hand on a punchbag.

He wrote: "can we just get clear, calling some one 'gay' or 'fag' is as derogatory as calling someone a 'nigger'. U look like an idiot when you do it."

Kutcher is one of the few celebrities whose Twitter account (aplusk) has been verified as his. His wife, Demi Moore, posts as 'mrskutcher'.

Family Guy provokes anger over gay orgy scene
Posted by: andy - 03-19-2009, 09:55 AM - Forum: Gay-News - Replies (4)

[img2=left]http://www.gayspeak.com/forum/images/news/familyguy.jpg[/img2]Animated TV show Family Guy has come under fire from a parents' group over a recent episode that showed a gay orgy.

In the episode, screened in the US on March 8th, storylines included a gay orgy featuring 11 men, a baby eating horse semen and bestiality.

The Parents Television Council, which has 1.3 million members, has filed an indecency complaint with the Federal Communications Commission against the show.

In a statement, PTC president Tim Winter said: "Fox treated viewers to everything from an 11-way gay orgy to baby Stewie eating a bowl of cereal with horse sperm instead of milk.

"If that isn’t enough, the show’s leading character is also shown fanaticizing about his wife and moaning while a horse licks his bare behind. Clearly, the explicit content was not isolated to one instance in one segment of the show; it permeated the entire programme."

Speaking about a previous complaint from the group, Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane told advocate.com: "That’s like getting hate mail from Hitler. They’re literally terrible human beings. I’ve read their newsletter, I’ve visited their website, and they’re just rotten to the core.

"For an organisation that prides itself on Christian values - I mean, I’m an atheist, so what do I know? - they spend their entire day hating people."

  Evil Archbishop Strkes Another Blow
Posted by: marshlander - 03-16-2009, 03:26 PM - Forum: World-News-Forum - Replies (15)

The evil Peter Akinola, Archbishop of Nigeria, has struck again. This time he is getting behind the campaign to make the already dreadful anti-gay laws in the country even worse.

Pink News reports him as saying,
"Same sex marriage, apart from being ungodly, is unscriptural, unnatural, unprofitable, unhealthy, un-cultural, un-African and un-Nigerian. It is a perversion, a deviation and an aberration that is capable of engendering moral and social holocaust in this country.
"It is also capable of existincting [sic] mankind and as such should never be allowed to take root in Nigeria. Outlawing it is to ensure the continued existence of this nation. The need for doing this is urgent, compelling, and imperative."

Same sex couples getting married risk five years in prison while wedding guests will be liable to one year's incarceration! Unbelieveable

While he's on the subject of what might or might not be African, just how African is his beloved Christianity? He certainly does not seem to worship any god of love I've ever heard about in their propaganda.

The Archbishop of Canterbury seems very quiet while this wicked, unchristian man spreads his hateful messages. He seemed to have had more to say on Gene Robinson's appointment. Shameful

  Friday the 13th
Posted by: XRIMO - 02-12-2009, 06:18 PM - Forum: Movies - Replies (2)

Well, come tomorrow, the legend will be reborn again. Jason Voorhees will return to his domain and continue his legacy of bloodshed.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm a big Jason fan. I own every Friday the 13th movie, and I've probably seen each of them 5-10 times or more. So I am thrilled to actually go to a Friday the 13th movie on Friday the 13th. Plus I just bought a retrospective dvd called "His Name is Jason" that is all interviews and clips from every movie from the original to Freddy vs. Jason. This will be a wonderful way to spend my Valentine's day weekend, watching a psychotic killer do his thing, what could be better...

Welcome back Jason! I will be right there in line to see the new movie!

Hey all, wondering if ya got any ideas (the wilder the better Rolleyes ) on what might be going on with my neighbor.

A couple weeks ago I started getting these computer calls I thought were robo calls. It said this is NOT a sales call... I would just hang up. This time I waited for a human to pick up to tell them to stop bothering me.

A young woman says hello. We are calling about your neighbor ***** ****** saying his name.

I said I knew ***** to say hello to but not a friend of. Before I could ask what it was all about the woman said thank you and hung up.

Now ***** seems to be a pretty decent guy. In his 30s. Always said hi to each other and invited him in for coffee when I first moved in. I even notice a similarity to a gay porn actor *btw, not really my type Rofl

Had exchanged phone #s that coffee and so I tried calling him to tell him someone was ringing neighbors asking about him.

It rang and rang and message picked up saying the mailbox was full.

I looked over at his place and the outside lights were on which was unusual.

soooooo any ideas whats going on with the *gay porn star* neighbor?

Obama inauguration security force larger than number of troops in Afghanistan
Posted by: Star Twister - 01-18-2009, 10:55 PM - Forum: World-News-Forum - Replies (14)

If, as expected, a record crowd turns out for Barack Obama’s inauguration, Washington will be ready with the largest number of security people ever assembled in the nation’s capital.
The U.S. Secret Service is overseeing a security force of more than 40,000 people, including 7,500 active duty soldiers, 10,000 National Guard troops and 25,000 law-enforcement officers.
That surpasses the 31,000 troops serving in Afghanistan.
Intelligence officials say there are no specific threats, but they acknowledge that the high visibility of the inauguration, the presence of dignitaries and the significance of swearing in the first black president make it a vulnerable target.
“We have to be prepared for the lone individual who will try to interrupt the event all the way up to a terrorist organization,” Secret Service spokesman Ed Donovan told FOXNews.com.
The Metropolitan Police Department will deploy 4,000 officers, and it will have help from an additional 4,000 officers from 99 federal, state and local law-enforcement agencies across the country.
