Hello, I love Jesus
#51
Welcome!

Religion is a beautiful thing.
While I don't have one, I really do have a strong appreciation for it!

Having something to believe in, to dedicate your heart too is never a bad thing.

Cheers Smile

Thanks Pix for being so open. I appreciate it.

I am not trying to argue you in Christianity, however, I would like to say something just to clarify what I'm intending to communicate.

Your experience with Christianity seemed to me to be ritualistic and not what I'm promoting or talking about when I'm talking about Jesus.

To be a follow of Jesus is to realize that no matter what rituals or ceremonies you perform you will never be good enough. We can't ever earn God's affection, but there was one who did.

For those that place their faith in Jesus, God looks at them as if they lived the righteous life of Christ. The Bible puts it like this…

2 Corinthians 5:21 (KJV 1900) — 21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Isaiah 1:18 (ESV) — 18...though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.

Romans 8:1 (ESV) — 1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

John 5:24 (ESV) — 24 Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.

That's what people mean when they say "gospel" or "good news." It's that even though we always mess up and fall short of even our own moral standards….in Jesus not only are we forgiven, but God's sees us as righteous because of Jesus.

Corsac Wrote:You need to learn how to respect other peoples right to live their lives how they see fit because right now you're overstepping that line and its making you look like a bad person.
Hello Corsac,

Thank you for the candid response.

I don't mean to convey a lack of respect, although I agree with you that I am in fact a bad person.

I agree that everyone should live their lives as they see fit.

Corsac Wrote:My neighbour is a christian and very much in touch with Jesus herself, the difference between you and her is that she has accepted that there are different people who don't connect with him so she doesn't preach that other peoples lives could be better by trying the same as her.
I am happy to hear that you have a Christian neighbor who knows Jesus! I understand that you don't like me talking about Jesus and saying that He can bring more fulfillment than you are currently experiencing…however, in my experience the people that I know who have "tried" Jesus and found Him lacking are people who didn't understand what Jesus was offering or what the gospel actually is. I am simply wanting to clear any debris/misinformation out of the way so that people truly can "try" Jesus. Then, if they do not find the real deal appealing and choose to do life another way, that's okay.

My intent is to help people see the difference between fool's gold and real gold. I would like for people to know what the gospel is and it's implications on their life before rejecting it.

I don't believe you're a bad person, I do however think you're misguided on your views of other people and their lack of Jesus/Religion. If you agree that people should live their lives as they see fit then why are you trying to get people to see Jesus? You're going backwards on yourself with this statement because of how you come across to this website.

You should know better then to interfere with other peoples lives, regardless of what you claim to have done to "help" people previously.

If a person wishes to embrace Religion then its their own choice, you however are thrusting it upon a gay forum which has some users who don't seem to be appreciating the effort you're making to disrupt their own ways of thinking.

This and many other gay forums on the internet are full of people who have been damaged and disowned because of the views that are held on homosexuality by those preaching religion. The forums are often used as a haven to get away from that sort of stuff, it can't be nice for those people when someone like yourself signs up and starts preaching from within their haven.

Even though you haven't been rude, I am going to ask you to have more respect for other peoples lives then you currently do because currently your thrusting of Jesus here is showing your lack of respect.

Quoted for truth.

Probably in most respects this is true, but when you think of what the Nazi regime tried to pursue, it's a chilling thought (and it WAS a bad thing!!). They were not the only ones to dedicate their hearts, beliefs and army to their cause...

^^

Odd memory, when I was 15 a 20-year-old with WAR (White Aryan Resistance) tried to get me to leave with him for I think WAR HQ in CA (my memory is fuzzy on it). The end of our conversation was him saying something about people in WAR reciting about Hitler still being alive and if not then "alive in my heart." I didn't understand but wanted to and asked if that was like having Jesus in one's heart (a phrase that puzzled me as well, at least when contrasting the theory with the practices). He blinked at me confused (I don't know if WAR is one of those who accept Jesus or consider Jesus a dirty Jew) and said he had to go and I never saw him again (just as well).

And now I'm recalling how integral Lutheranism was to Nazi Germany. I don't know if Hitler was as devout as he claimed or simply manipulating the Christians cynically but in either case he wouldn't have succeeded without appealing to their Lutheran morals & sensibilities in speeches, Mein Kampf, military medals, and schools, plus the Nazi celebration of Luther Day. (German Lutherans had a bad history with both Jews & Catholics, btw, based on Martin Luther's antisemitism and, of course, his conflict with the Catholic Church that officially started the Protestant movement in Germany.) So that is indeed one possible end result of loving Jesus and a society ruled by Christian values...

As an agnostic who in general, has many disagreements with the Christian religion / bible, I welcome you to the forums. Regardless of the fact that our viewpoints and opinions on certain aspects of life may differ -- I respect your beliefs, as long as you don't try to *force* them on others. Aside from that, I'm personally all for debates and discussions. As far as I see it.. if everyone had the same viewpoint on everything, the world would be rather dull. So yeah.. again.. welcome Smile.
