How are you today?
July 3 and Dec 4 really can't come soon enough x.x

I want to take these Japanese Proficiency Tests.

Tho today, I went to a company with a Japanese C.E.O here, and he and I worked together to help me further develop my Interpretation skills.

Because I want to do Localization (Games/Books/etc) and Translation(In the Bank or a similar field);

However, my CIS (Continual Interpretation Speed), is actually very low;

Because, While my vocabulary and over all proficiency is fairly high (for someone never to be in Japan), I have always had the luxury of 'taking my time' to translate something (Reading it/Writing it myself/Listening to it over and over).

But in a timed manner; I have to increase my response time to repeating what I've heard, back in the other language.

Here's a good example for those interested!

The first thing to do is identify the source of this feeling. What particular things/events/situations are getting you stressed/being difficult for you to attack?

Would it be school, family, friends?

Isolate the source first and then we can tackle it!

matty7, your adventures with Sailor Jerry go to prove that relaxation is the key to good performance. It is quite a amazing to me when I can relax and play keyboards.

I know I posted in the bass covers thread that I would be getting an Ibanez ATK bass, but life threw a curve ball. I noticed the jack in my OLP five string bass was going out, and I could have just replaced it, but upon further inspection I noticed one of the tuners was glued in place as well. That will teach me to be more aware when buying used. >> Basically I traded the OLP in at the same music store I bought it at for a new Sterling S.U.B series Ray5 five string bass, and this bass is active with a two band EQ. Tongue Also, something else happened today. I basically had to cut my hair, even though I really didn't want to. Now I just feel even uglier. Sorry to be a downer, but it's the truth. I'm off to clear my mind for now. Take care guys.

I feel like only today I'm lying in my bed resting. The rest of the week nights were more or less being beaten into it and falling on restless sleep until the alarm went off and it was time to do it all over again.

Organize, sort, attack one at a time.

Seriously. Make a list of problems, separate them into categories (i.e. school, family, etc), identify the source and fix them one by one, eliminating the stress they cause. Start with the ones you can tackle more easily.

I recently had a bad hair cut myself. Originally, I wanted to look like something like this:

[Image: undercut-haircut-25.jpeg]

but instead, I feel like I look like a pineapple due to my chubby cheeks, and maybe the barber left my top hair a bit too long, I don't know, lol. Then of course, my parents were furious with my experiment, saying it's non-Islamic or whatever, urgh. I can't stand this. Unemployment is messing with my head. And every time I went for an interview, I feel like I was being reminded that it doesn't matter how smart am I, social anxiety will always be my biggest obstacle. That was basically what I was told in my last 2 interviews, "poor social skills", "reserved". Not to mention, nothing I do feels satisfying or deserving anymore. No amount of foods, orgasm, weekend getaway, movies or series could make me content like before. I don't know how to have fun alone anymore, it seems like the only good time that I have is when I'm with my friends, and that's like once a month. Enough rant.

The only good thing is, April has come, probably my most favourite month of the year (I might be biased since it's my birth month,lol) with Spring (as if we experience that here), April Fool pranks, and all the promotions and free stuff given out (free movie tickets,wee~). I also intend to make some big changes, hopefully it's not just words, and get an actual help for my social anxiety despite my parents seem to think it's not that big of a deal (but my hair cut was,geez) and I could get rid of it with doing more religious activities (right).

Yeah, that's it for now. Hope you peeps are doing well, sorry for being distant from the forum for such a long time, I tend to shy away from people when my mind is messy.

I noticed your title in Japanese, but wow, if you're doing translation, you must have some pretty high level proficiency in Jap! I sat for JLPT in 2010 last time, it was only level 3 before this new N system, and luckily enough to pass that (barely). Which level are you taking btw? And now I envy your Japanese. :p

Gurl! I'm jealous of you! I feel like I'm just gonna flop lol.

I wouldn't say I have a high proficiency, so much as I do a large vocabulary. You see my main weakness with Japanese, is Nuance, cause unlike any other language I know;

As I'm sure you know, Japanese has got a ridiculous amount of "isms" that English certainly doesn't have and I have to remember those things the most.

I wanna go ahead and Skip N5 and go into N4, because N5 focuses mainly on Vocab and general understanding;

And I'm not fluent, but I have been learning (off and on) since I was 15, so I can get by and perhaps I may even Skip to N3, if the N4 test example is anything to go by.

I just wanna as I said; Focus on upping my nuance skills, cause translating words is pretty easy, but understanding the "whys" and "whens" to use a word or phrase is what's kicking my ass a lil LoL.

I often write Japanese (and other language ) short stories and recently as per recommended to me by a Japanese CEO here on my island; A little thread I titled GCLnT (Game Culture Localization and Translation);

In an endeavour to build up my repertoire of Video game vocabulary, as I want to at some point do Localization as well as the hand in hand Translation aspect of it as well.

No one on my Island right now is really doing it and I figured this would also be a good way to help foster new opportunities and so forth, both for my self and for my island.

Starting as small as a Video Game tho of course xD Sheep
