Maybe 90% of the people you meet in GP are normal...just like them :
The kind of deduction that is done with what you find on the internet :
Will you forbid every gay erotic or porn websites? Will you forbid people who have uncommon practices to actually practice? No! It's their private life...however, people can be stupid enough to say that it's a gay thing by seeing only one video.
Otherwise, for me, the pix you posted are not shocking, I mean, not more shocking than Rio carnaval for instance. So, why don't we say that allowing Rio Carnaval is something that tarnishes the images of Brazilians in the world?
If cultures had to change regarding to what other peoples think of them, there would be no difference between people. It's your right not to like it, but don't say it hurts more than it gives benefits to gay people.
Gay pride is not done in private.
People are stupid, even before the Internets we had this high level of stupidity. Trust me, I was down in the trenches fighting for 'gay rights' with bigots and haters who all had very clear (simplistic even) ideas of what 'gay' means based on what little they have seen and witnessed.
Like it or not, gay pride parades are at the front of our group when it comes to representation. No one actually talks about gay porn - straights can't actually say anything now since there are so many straight porn sites that do incredibly shocking things.
Rio/Carnival/Mardi Gras - those are isolated events that do not represent 'straight people'. Gay Pride represents all gays. Oh and As for Brazilians I can think of a few people who have told me just how primitive those brown skinned people are and they point to Carnival as their example.
Yes the media takes the most shocking pictures. If the media can't be smart enough to take pictures of the families (LGBT with their kids) perhaps we need to tone down our parades and have LGBT parents with their kids marching be the most shocking thing we have in order for the media to be forced to take pictures of that instead of focusing on the barely clad bodies.
Gay pride takes place on the street in public. This isn't like the couple who turn to heavy BDSM in their own home dungeon or have wild orgies of carefully selected party goers. This is on the street and stands as representation of the whole LGBT community under the guise of 'Gay Pride'.
And I don't forbid anyone anything. I'm just pointing out that our actions have consequences and those consequences are far reaching and often never actually coming home to roost, but end up roosting on some other person's door step, like the kids that are bullied to suicide based on the 'common knowledge' of how perverse gays are. Or those unfortunates who were beaten to death being taught a lesson in 'God's Love' and how gos hates fags and their perversion because, like or not, the most well known instances of what 'gay' is are the media reports that shock the general population reporting a soundbite and a few images of Gay Pride which is, to the general public, represented as a sex-fest.
I personally don't care if the actions of others leads to homosexuality being made illegal and a mandatory death sentence, or if it leads to yet one more wasted life beaten and hung on a fence to die. It is not MY actions that lead to that, so I have no guilt.
I would be less than humane if I allowed such activities lead to such connections by others in my group, saying nothing does leave me with guilt.
I said my bit on the matter, the next person killed by a gang of bigots who view all fags as sexual deviants isn't because I failed to stop it.
