The SAS is certainly the part of the UK Special Forces with the largest public profile. The Special Boat Service (SBS, the Special Forces unit of the Royal Marines) is much more successful at avoiding the limelight. Nobody knows what (if anything) its been up to in recent years, for all we know it might have been more active than the SAS.
