Are apps. ruining your sex life?
#11
I don't know how they came up with such a statistic like that. I can usually get a good idea of someone is a decent person or not pretty quickly and in the past I would often be blinded or just flat out ignored major red flags and made excuses. I really try not to judge, but I find that I'm judging only when I find good qualities...it might be a good thing but I am still judging them. I've "dated" some guys that I should have never even went and met. Although, during a period of my life I was one of those guys as well fortunately I made some changes and between being lucky and finally coming around and making some good choices I somewhat reformed myself.

I guess some people try to pretend to be someone else, while the other person in the relationship pretends that they're someone else. Kind of crummy....I never really think of things like that. I couldn't go into a relationship, living with someone and pretend to be someone I'm not. I mean I might leave my socks on the floor at times, I also pick them up when I see them too... Things like that I haven't given much thought about, I haven't had to live with someone else in for a long time and it was for a short period of time so it probably doesn't count.

What's an app?

Come to think of it, what's a sex life?

If you don't have a smartphone...keep it that way...they're a giant pain in the ass...

Apps suck. Period. But I'm not sure how else to meet other gay men in my area since I don't go to pub or club. [emoji53]

I can't really say all of them suck, they do differ... In my case POF is how I ended up meeting the guy I'm currently dating...but others like Grindr well aren't so great. I find that things like Facebook, communities like this one or through friends should yield the best results... I can't speak for all those avenues but that's what my friends and others keep telling me...basically go out and find someone lol It just isn't easy.

I never used POF only Grindr and Scruff. General with Grindr the content is very sordid but you can find good men on there i think.

Mainly they just want sex!!!!

I haven't checked the pool of guys in POF, but so far I'd say OkCupid is more relationship oriented, at least in my view. But the number of guys on the site is still very few here. Other apps, it's like trying to find needle in haystack. Yeah, lol, it isn't that easy alright.

You got it Axle. No smartphone here. I really don't need one and I can't afford it anyway.

I have this cool arrangement where I pay for minutes with T-Mobile and they last a year. No contract. No monthly. No hassles. It's just a simple phone. Last year my total phone bill was $35.00!

POF is sort of the same way, of course they try to get you to buy the premium crap and there aren't a lot of guy on there but I come across more decent people than anything else. I mean you do have your jerks on there. Also, for those who don't have a smart phone you can use a computer and get in on their site...so you're not limited to the mobile platform and that might be a big difference too. I think people communicating through a computer are able to communicate more effectively...with phones you're rushed...

LJay My Verizon bill was $102... So yeah, you're definitely ahead of the game. But you can get an inexpensive tablet that doesn't do 4g (moble data) and use it on regular wifi and still be able to use all the apps that everyone else keeps hollering about. Doesn't require you forking out a fortune. You can get a small tablet well under $100, they aren't anything to write home about but if you're on a tight budget they will still do the job.

@Axle, $102 for the year or the month. My $35 was for the year.

The tablet idea might be fun. I'll have to talk with my roomie, who is the computer guy around here to see if something appeals.

I appreciate the ideas. Has me thinking.
