i hate horror movies....they fuck up my brain in a way i don't like. i know they're not real, but they push some existential fear buttons with me that can mess me up if i don't pay attention.....weird. i steer clear from horror movies.

I watched Gone Girl with a friend here Sunday afternoon at the $2 theater. Aside from some jerks sitting behind us, the outing did not disappoint.
It seemed longish, but not as severely as Australia or The Curious Case of Benjamin Butthead when the film editor apparently died during the shoot.
Too much gore, including cunnilingus. Neil Patrick Harris did himself proud, branching out to do yet again another breakout performance. It was almost worth the truly gory scenes to see his hairy legs even if I am not a fan of jock straps. Still, I wouldn't have gone if I knew about the gore, as it was all contrivance anyway. I don't mind seeing children trampled in SUVs by T-Rexes, or lawyers eaten alive in latrines, but just throwing blood around for the hell of it annoys me and doesn't scare me in the least.
And, as usual in the great majority of these psycho thrillers, the killer is NOT credible, and doesn't earn the willing suspension of disbelief.
I need to make up my deficit and go rent Dallas Buyer's Club to make up for this viewing.

Oh, I just noticed the warning that this is an old thread and that we should all consider starting a new one.
I'm SO sorry. I can't believe I contributed to this.
Right.

Another day, another movie.
"Only lovers left alive": Brilliant.

Saw Into The Woods today. It was okay.
•
The sci-fi classics E.T. And Close encounters of the Third Kind.
•
The Interview.
I don't get the hype. It was pretty average.

Fury
a little slow at times but overall a good war movie.

I just finished watching Transcendence. It was surprisingly touching.
