I am turning 20 in a week, still single and kicking
#1
It has been almost a year since I joined GS for the first time.
When I first came here, I am a curious gay boy in closet.
Now, I am turning 20 in one week. I just want to share some thoughts about how my perception for life has been changing for the past 1 year and update about my life for folks who know me here.

1. I am still single. I has never been in a gay relationship. I can't deny that I am desperate for one. But my perception about being single has changed. I am no longer blaming myself for not being in a relationship. I learn to accept myself for who I am. I learn the fact that I am a "catch". However, I still keep the old healthy habit of upgrading myself everyday. I still go to gym, learning new instrument, read more books, and smile more often.
I don't think that "my life suck" cause I don't have a relationship. Of course, I maybe happier with my life if I have someone to be there for me. But I don't need someone to be there for me to be happy.

2. I walked myself out of the closet. I have learned that real friends won't leave you just because you like boys. I came out to several friends. Most of them are very accepting. The ones who are not accepting are still my friends. I also made friends with some people who are really homophobic because of their religions. We spent hours and hours to debate about that topic. But in the end, I know they are my friends still and if something happen to me, I know they will be there. I learn that being opened minded and accepting means you have to accept that not everyone will accept you.

3. I am still facing discrimination. The discrimination is coming from the GLBT community itself. I get discriminated because I am not white. I get discriminated because I am comfortable with being who I am. However, I am no longer just sitting down and sucking it up. I am fighting back. I am starting students organization to spread out the liberal and accepting spirit on my university campus - a campus that if you are not white and male then you suck. I become more of myself, I learn how to show people that I am me, not my race, my sexual orientation, or my hair, my clothes.

I guess I was just bored when I wrote this. But that was some thought about how I view my life that I just want to randomly share.

People are animals, animals dont like things that are different. the people who dont like you because you arent white, arent people, they are animals, and not worth your time.

Keep improving yourself and as for the others, fuckem if they cant take a joke.

You are who you are, just be you and live the way you want to. Don't let other people run your life, there are many people out there who would love to dictate to the world on how people should live. Be happy and enjoy your life, also tell the ones who don't like the way you live to go and self reproduce. Discrimination is a disease which the human race has and needs to be eradicated from this world.

Awesome Big Grin

I know its cliche, but they always say the first step to finding a lover is to love yourself first. Sounds like you're well on your way. And congrats for the student organization thing, thats a big step for you and a great leap for the other LGBTQ people in your school that might never have had an outlet before Big Grin

Keep it up and good luck Big Grin

What would be truly marvellous would be if Pictureposter could make a difference in his country of origin... Maybe that will happen, in time, too... That's what I hope for his sake and the sake of many other Vietnamese who still have to live the lie.

Thank you for standing against racism in the gay community. There is a lot of acceptance in our community but too often do we ignore racism among us with righteous indignation. The truth is race doesn't even exist, on a biological level were more like different breeds of dogs than we are different races. Racism is a social construct and that means it has to be socially dismantled.

You seem kind of AMAZING! I'm in your exact situation a year ago. I'm in the process of coming out of the closet. I'm glad to hear that you are trying to make change. Smile

Well, posterpicture, I don't know anything about you. I just learned that you are not white, I don't even know you're name and I don't think I've ever talked to you personally on here, but I gotta tell ya, you fucking ROCK!!! I always find your posts helpful and moving in a way.. I'm really happy to hear that you've gone such a long way! :]]]]
