  Steel Magnolias 25th Anniversary
Posted by: Guest - 11-14-2014, 09:18 PM - Forum: Movies - Replies (4)

The Huffington Post featured an interview today with the playwright behind Steel Magnolias, which he wrote in memory of his sister (who became Shelby in the play/movie).

This play/movie along with Moonstruck are among my OGT's. I have also seen it on stage a few times, most recently in California with Bonnie Franklin (who died not too long after) as Ouiser. She was a steel magnolia in her own right.

Most of these, however, were news to me, so maybe you will find them interesting, too.

  Eirc Martin
Posted by: ceez - 11-02-2014, 08:45 PM - Forum: Gay-News - Replies (1)

I've been keeping up with a story that was posted (can't remember if it was here or another forum), it was about a teen, Eric Martin, who was beaten and hospitalized after standing up to bullies in school, to make it worse he now faces assault charges for trowing the first punch and is not allowed to return to school until he signs a document saying that he threatened the school. I'm not really surprised by this because it did happen in Virginia, there's certain places people still shouldn't go because of race.

Eric's mother started a campaign called letters for Eric to show love and support for him. the story is here and there is also a facebook page for letters of love for Eric . I really hope the school and authorities can show they still have some kind of compassion and drop the charges.

Model Max Emerson Crowd-Funding Book Aimed at Helping Gay Teens
Posted by: Guest - 10-30-2014, 09:00 PM - Forum: Celebrity-News-Gossip - Replies (1)

Model and Instagram addict Max Emerson is trying to crowd-fund his book Hot Sissy: Life Before Flashbulbs. He states the book, with which he hopes to help gay teenagers cope through humor and self-revelation (literally), gives a brutally honest look at his life in high-school while trying to accept his sexuality.

Getting to Know Emerson - Male Celebrity News

I follow him on Instagram and he is pretty funny and over-the-top.

Apple boss Tim Cook: I’m proud to be gay
Posted by: Guest - 10-30-2014, 04:07 PM - Forum: Celebrity-News-Gossip - Replies (9)

I read that on "metro" :

Quote:Apple boss Tim Cook has come out as gay, saying his is ‘proud’ of his sexual orientation.

Publicly acknowledging his sexuality for the first time, he wrote in Businessweek: ‘Let me be clear: I’m proud to be gay, and I consider being gay among the greatest gifts God has given me.’

Steve Jobs’ successor also praised his Apple colleagues, many of whom he says knows he is gay, however ‘it doesn’t seem to make a difference in the way they treat me’.

Despite keeping his private life very guarded until know, the head of Apple previously hit out at his home state of Alabama for it’s stance on LGBT equality, and marched in the San Francisco gay pride parade in June this year.

‘We were too slow on equality on African-Americans. We were too slow on interracial marriage. And we are still too slow on equality for the LBGT community,’ the 53-year-old said.

I have an Iphone and i didn't know for Tim Cook. Shame on me ! I am going to ask at Siri Oink

  Halloween & Horror Movies
Posted by: Guest - 10-25-2014, 04:18 AM - Forum: Movies - Replies (26)

7 days till my favorite holiday - Halloween! I hope everyone is in the Fall and spooky mood. We've been having some really nice Fall weather in PA. I hope you all have as well.

This is my favorite time of year and I've basically been watching horror movies nonstop for the last 24 days! I have AMC Fearfest on my TV all the time.

I was wondering if any of you have any horror movies or Halloween themed movies that you love to watch at this time of year?!?!SpiderBlackbat

LGBT Sites to be added to National Historic Register (US)
Posted by: Guest - 10-24-2014, 02:20 PM - Forum: Gay-News - Replies (6)

I had seen something about this project back in June but here is an update.

A project by the National Park Service to identify significant sites in the history of LGBT people in the United States has reached over 400 properties.

Scores of LGBT Sites Eyed for Landmark Status - Billerico Project

Some of the places I hope will be included:

  • All Saints Episcopal Church in Hoboken, N.J. which in 1989 became the home of the first outreach ministry by/for gay and lesbian people to be sponsored by a mainstream religious group
  • The Upstairs Lounge in New Orleans, which was the scene of a deliberately-set fire that killed many
  • The Continental Baths, in the basement of the Ansonia Hotel in New York, where Bette Midler and others entertained patrons
  • Harvey Milk's camera shop in the Castro, which is now an HRC office
  • Macondray Lane in Russian Hill which is supposedly the inspiration for Barbary Lane in Amistead Maupin's series Tales of the City

What about you guys?
