Interesting BBC recording about Turing's untimely death. Was it suicide?

Now it appears that Turing's death by suicide was maybe a fabrication, because it fitted the police at the time...

Angus, midnight and me sobbing like a little girl.
Posted by: Toby - 06-18-2012, 07:51 AM - Forum: Movies - No Replies

The hell is wrong with me? It's almost midnight and I keep watching this clip over and over and over balling my eyes out. Anyone else remember this flick? The way this intro is shot along with the music encapsulates the high school feeling so well.

  The Hots for Shorts....

Ok, I know this sounds like a deceitful title, because what this thread is going to be about is Short Feature Films that are Gay Theme related...
There are all sorts on YouTube and elsewhere... so I suggest we share what we find and add a link here or a YouTube inclusion or inclusions here. Maybe I'll list them alphabetically as they come in, in the next post with a link to the post where the film is mentioned or embedded.
There a great production out there but I don't know if we are aware of it.

Thanks in advance for all your contributions.

Erik Rhodes dies of a Heart Attack at 30!
Posted by: princealbertofb - 06-15-2012, 07:40 PM - Forum: Gay-News - Replies (14)

As the title says, Erik Rhodes (real name: James) one of the fairly famous porn stars has died. He leaves a blog that is full of angst and anguish about being depressed.
Note that in the line of work he'd finally chosen and the pressure he put his body through to look as hunky as he did, it's hardly surprising that he reached what he thought was coming to him...
The world will / or won't mourn him. RIP Erik, may your parents, boyfriend and parents remember you with kind thoughts. You craved loving. You never seemed content. Learning to love oneself first is the key to being able to love others.

R.I.P., James.

  Snow White and the Huntsman
Posted by: Pix - 06-15-2012, 01:23 AM - Forum: Movies - Replies (9)

Back from Snow White and the Huntsman. I got a weird feeling that I was seeing a story that had largely been cut & pasted from other movies especially from Willow (many scenes & elements, including Snow White's step mother reminding me of Queen Bavmorda, and the Huntsman seeming to me to be based on Madmartigan, just less of a rake to give him a tragic love backstory instead), but also from Avatar (the surreal forest and if the fairy critters had been taller than humans rather than tiny as well as blue, but then if the Avatar trees were shrunk to Earth size and the Avatar beings shrank to fit in as well they'd be about the same size), Legend (particularly the scene of Lilly touching the unicorn and then Jack communicating for the other unicorn on how to save the world from eternal night), and Princess Mononoke (that WAS the Forest Spirit! And remember how he walked over the water to the island and how in one scene he was also shot, and those fairies kinda remind me of those tiny spirits that showed up around the Forest Spirit, too). Anyone else get that feeling?

My girl has only seen Avatar (years ago) so she couldn't really say. She did say the scene where the evil queen's brother admitted to watching Snow White (played by the same actress who plays Bella in Twilight) sleep it kinda reminded her of Twilight. Not enough to be a “cut and paste” scene but it still crossed her mind.

But I don't think the movie impressed her over all. She liked it ok (so did I, at least for a one time viewing), but I think she was more curious what Kristen Stewart was like in this movie and Chris Hemsworth is just good eye candy. And maybe she just knows enough of her other friends are going to see it, too.

I'd also like to add that I hated the scene in the Disney animated movie where Snow White totally freaks out in the woods so I did like where they gave a good reason for her to do that in the movie (and not all that dissimilar to a fic I did of Snow White where I explained it as her eating hallucinogenic berries).

  21 Jump Street - 21 Best Episodes
Posted by: BellyNel - 05-21-2012, 06:40 AM - Forum: Movies - Replies (1)

I am too young to have watched the show when it was new. I bought this 21 Best Of DVD set of 21 Jump Street. Yes, where Johnny Depp got his start. A whole bunch of future stars guest starred - Brad Pitt, Christina Applegate, Jason Priestly, Josh Brolin...

OMG - I never thought of Johnny Depp as good looking  Don't kill me! But not that I saw him in his younger days, he was HOT! Know who else was damn HOT - Richard Grieco! He had one hot body on him!
